I like the concept, but if I lived in a building engulfed with trees/shrubbery, I would want to be confident that maintenance was up-to-snuff to deal with such things as birds' nests, beehives and other possibilities.

I did live in house engulfed in trees untl age 16. Fun. I climbed every time. Two problems the trees attracted deranged hunters (mostly harmless) and hawks (dangerous to cats). Good topic.

I love this. Even when I am a very urban animal, some of my strongest memories involve a deep contact with Nature. As a matter of fact, I still feel the atavist impulse to return to Nature. Before getting more serious about my blog, the plan was retiring to an exurban farm in Argentina.

These new tendencies in sustainable architecture have been spreading for a while and I am glad to see they are becoming prevalent. I am waiting for the next step, it would be paradisiac if they start adding small farm animals like chicken, goats, and other alike, to massive city buildings.

Brilliant...I love plants and trees and gardens that look overgrown and lush, and walkways and paths that seem to vanish into the landscape.

I just spent two years re landscaping our property. New grass, trees, ornamentals, lighting, and fountains. Trees were moved around and new ones added. The cost to maintain it has certainly gone up. Exterminators were added to spray the yard and lawn once a month, and water usage is up 25%, and despite increasing the landscapers, it requires daily maintenance, but it is still worth it. Now if I could only figure out how to keep the Iguanas from eating the Hibiscus and Bougainvilleas...
