YES! That final scene of Maurice and Scudder in the boathouse is wonderful, passionate, beautiful! And the words "We shan't never be parted". I can imagine them growing old together.

This is a great movie. Everything about it. I agree that Hugh Grant can be a really, really good actor if he selects the right material. One of the problems for him, I think, is that he has to compete in some ways with Colin Firth. I am sorry that I have not seen more James Wilby's work. I really have only seen Howards End, Gosford Park, and Maurice. I know that Handful of Dust is easy to get hold of.
