This season's earliest nomination for "Best Video That Makes Me Weep" goes to 86-year-old Martin, who recently attended his very first gay Pride. Martin was 85 when he finally came out to his family and friends

I thought maybe he waited until he was 85 because all of his friends and family would have passed on by then.

I believe the act of coming out is so dependent upon the individual's personality, family environment, employment environment, social environment and personal introspection that there is no good time to do it that fits all. In Martin's case, as it should be in all such cases regardless of age, he made an important life decision and he feels good about it.
