To all escorts on Rentboy

Two other clients have told me in the past two weeks that they run into the same problem that I've had with replies from Rentboy. So I have a suggestion for all escorts who are advertising on Rentboy.

 

While traveling, I may check Rentboy to see what escorts are currently in the city I'm heading to. Based on who's listed, I may send simple inquiries to three or four guys. (I seldom send only one inquiry, since past experience tells me that by the time I find out from that one guy that he's in Dubuque this week, it will be too late to contact someone else.)

 

Rentboy provides a Web form to use when sending a message to an escort. The form asks for your name, telephone number, email address and a short note. When submitted, it displays a standard message that the escort will be contacting you shortly.

 

So far, so good. Most of the guys on RB do seem to be pretty good about getting back quickly. When the escort responds, they respond from a personal email address that is completely unfamiliar to anyone who hasn't corresponded with them before. That's still ok and not a problem.

 

Unfortunately -- and here's the problem -- many guys respond with a quick reply, often one or two lines and don't include their name or any kind of reference to their RB ad.

 

So the poor client is looking at this reply from some yahoo or hotmail or gmail email address, unsigned and wondering who the heck sent it. The only options are to ignore the email or send a note back to that email address in an attempt to figure out who replied.

 

So guys, when responding to clients, please include some kind of line like "Hey, this is Joey from Rentboy in London, responding to your email...". That way, the person who gets it will have at least a chance to figure out who you are.

 

(Guys who respond from AOL email addresses are easier to figure out because their AOL profile will usually contain enough info to identify the escort.)

That's an awfully long sentence to expect in an escort reply, at least that's been my experience. Most of the one's I get usually bear no resemblance to a sentence and have no capitalization or punctuation. A good many of them have no syntax or structure and tend to be riddled with spelling mistakes. }(

 

(Come to think of it they tend to be no different than what I receive at the office from some of our younger staff members.)

Sorry, guys, but I wasn't intending on putting anyone down in this thread.

 

I don't know if you guys have seen the interface Rentboy provides or not but it looks like it makes it really easy to jot off a reply to someone. And the tendency would be to click on the reply, send a line or two, and go to the next reply. If you are responding to a lot of inquiries at once, that would be the way I'd do it. But that also makes it easy to leave off the info that identifies you, because you're just sending a quick reply to a question. Thus my original post.

 

Finally, I'd like to add that I've seen few "dumb" escorts. Most of the guys I've met have been bright and interesting. But, like most people their age, their correspondence skills sometimes need a bit of work.

I agree that the reply to a rentboy inquiry should be professional and informative. I usually write something like, "So...you wanna get blown or fucked...or what??!!" Is that good?

... And that's only in case that the escort has received the contact form from Rentboy. For instance Yahoo mail redirects all the emails originating from Rentboy to my bulk folder. That's why I always make sure to browse through that folder.

Somewhat off topic, but I agree about the need for everyone with yahoo to quickly browse through their bulk mail, escort or not. Yahoo doesn't made many mistakes, but enough to check the 1,000 bulk e-mail I get every month (same e-mail address for six years).
