April will be a good month for us as far as new DVD releases go.

"Brokeback Mountain" is scheduled for early April release, even while it's still in theaters.

(The "Crash" special director's cut is scheduled too.)

We also get a lost Fosse masterpiece: "Liza with a Z". It's a TV show that hasn't been seen in 30 years. Apparently Liza forgot she owned it but it's now coming out (remastered and edited) on DVD. And Showtime is airing it starting April 1.

Amazon.com is accepting pre-orders for all of the above. Just an FYI.

I plan to get both Brokeback and Liza, but I am more excited about May's release schedule than April's. In May, we will get:

The Nanny, Season 2

I Love Lucy, Final Season

Golden Girls, Season 5

Facts of Life, Seasons 1 & 2

and best of all

Mary Tyler Moore, Season 4 (introduction of Sue Ann Nivens, the party featuring Veal Prince Orloff, Rhoda & Mary fight, Edie leaves Lou, Mary shops at the "young person's" clothing store....lots of great stuff!)

I noticed today that Leni Riefenstahl's "Triumph of the Will" has been released as well. Famous not only for its place in Nazi/war/film history but for its incredibly homoerotic content as well--isn't this the Riefenstahl film that follows naked athletes into the sauna? It's really quite amazing soft-core porn.
