I’m having dinner with my West Coast brother from another mother at his place. He loves to cook. My dog is also invited. I know the dinner will be wonderful. We will watch the ball drop in New York at 9 PST. I’ll offer to help clean up. He will reject the offer. I’ll drive home with my dog, walk my dog, brush my teeth, and go to bed, probably no later than 10:30 PST. I’m not a fan of big New Year’s Eve parties, or dining out on New Year’s Eve. That’s just me. I’m curious as to what other forum members enjoy doing on NYE. Happy New Year! May all your yearnings be fulfilled all year long!

Do rub it. It will expand, and you will get more meals out of it.

I bought some marigolds at the local farmers market this morning. I mentioned to the young lady who sold me the flowers that Senator Everett Dirksen tried to make marigolds the national flower in the 1960s. She looked surprised and thanked me for this information. (She probably also thought I was a nutty old man.) I doubt she ever heard of Senator Dirksen. Anyone else here remember Senator Dirksen, his gravely voice and plea to have marigolds named the national flower?

It’s a good moisturizer too.

I think it will be interesting to see the responses. I’m guessing they will be somewhat similar to the responses as to buying a $300,000 automobile.

I am grateful that I am able to give toys to Christmas toy drives so that a child who might not get a toy, receives at least one. Plus this 70 year old kid had a great deal of fun buying all kinds of toys at Target the other day. It made me feel joyful dropping them off at the local fire station where they will be sorted and distributed to several local charities. In my mind, this is what the holidays should be all about.

This is a heads up for first timers who are flying in. The drive from LAX sucks and not in a good way. The traffic is horrible and it will take a minimum of three hours and more most likely 3 1/2 to 4 hours plus to drive from LAX to PSP. Plus, at LAX you have to take a bus to pick up your rental car and then unless you have a special status with Hertz or other rental company.,you’ll wait in a long line to get your vehicle. While it may cost a little more to fly directly into Palm Springs, it is worth it. If you fly into Palm Springs, you really don’t need to rent a car If you need to get somewhere and you’re not able to get a ride with someone; use Uber or Lyft.

A good accountant is worth what he/she charges. -
Same in the legal profession. If someone has seen several lawyers before they ask you to represent them, and those several lawyers refused to take their case, there is a reason!

I turned 70 in June. To celebrate, I invited close friends to have dinner with me on my birthday on me. Four of my close friends joined me , three others were unavailable because they were not in town. I specifically told them no gifts. I need nothing in the way of material objects. I want for nothing. Fortunately, my friends honored my request. I did get some nice cards and I’ve also been taken out for several meals which has been nice. in my mind if you wanna have me over for a meal or take me out for a meal that’s great or treat me to a concert or a movie etc. that’s great too, but please nomaterial objects

Today, I parked my car in the huge underground parking garage at UCLA Medical Center in Westwood. I parked on the second level down, which is B2. I decided to take the stairs. I was not very far up the stairs when I heard a female voice screaming .Once I took a 90 degree turn on the staircase, I saw the naked buttocks of a female who was very quickly, pulling up her pants and a man in scrubs, pulling up his pants. They either heard me open the door, heard my footsteps or both, as they quickly ascended to ground level as if they were running in the Olympics. My question is; have any of you ever been caught in a similar act or have or come upon a similar act? And by similar act ,I don’t mean the dick dock at Provincetown or the shenanigans in the bushes at Fire Island, etc. etc..
