I agree with Peter. The only thing I will add is maybe do a few evenings out with the guy you are interested in going on a long trip with. A lot times by these evenings out you can get a feeling of who the person is. Also by doing an overnight you can find out if this is the person I will trust. I am glad I have found guys who I trust with me overnight or for an extended period of time.
