I’m in the salad after main course camp or “Continental” as it is sometimes called. My Sicilian grandma always served salad after main and it’s what I grew up with. It’s certainly a healthier way of dining as the fiber does aid digestion. I’m assuming that’s why this practice developed in Europe over the centuries. However, this practice short circuits a US restaurant very easily. Many servers find it odd, the looks I’ve received when requesting salad after the main have been funny at times. Rather than get frustrated and to keep from messing up the kitchen I’ve just accepted that the salad is coming out first and then will let it sit there till the main arrives and I’m done with it. Then I’ll switch the plates. Yes, servers have asked “are you going to eat the salad” and I will explain all over again that I will after the main. Maybe it is an affectation on my part but it’s also the way I grew up and it’s my preference when consuming a meal.

Please mark your calendars for the next Forum DC Gathering, January 19, 2020. As with past DC gatherings, the event will span the MLK weekend, and coincide with Mid Atlantic Leather (MAL). There’s several web databases that have information and details on porn stars. I’m aware of one that lists Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter handles. You should be up front in your profile and state that a travel fee may be necessary for meetings outside a core area. That at least let’s the potential client know in advance of an additional cost. My personal practice is to cover the cost of Uber, taxi, or valet parking if I’m hiring a guy in a large city like New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco or similar. I confirm the rates for parking and get estimates for an Uber ride. Between $50 - $75 would be the limit on what I’d be willing to cover. When finalizing arrangements I tell the guy I’ll cover these nominal costs.

This is an issue the entire hotel industry is trying to manage. As a business events professional, I read a number of industry trade publications. The focus of these efforts is targeting organized trafficking primarily in women and children. Hotel employees are receiving training in spotting the telltale signs of trafficking. I would not be too concerned about hotels zeroing in on single male escorts conducting business unless they are creating issues for other guests with noise, drugs, or bad behavior. That kind of action will get any guest tossed out or arrested.

This reminds me of when Halston decided to partner with JC Penny on a mass market line of clothing. Halston was in financial trouble at the time. This was supposed to rescue the brand. It turned into a disaster. High end stores such as Saks Fifth Avenue and Bergdorf Goodman immediately dropped his couture line. The department store I worked also stopped carrying the Halston brand. No upscale retailers wanted to be associated with JC Penny. It was a different time in the 1980s when Halston made this move. Today every designer has a “down market” mass merchandise line. This has gotten so out of hand it’s ridiculous to an extent. From outlet stores to Walmart there’s some designer label available. This means Calvin Klein is either ahead of the trend or about to destroy what little cache the brand has left. I wonder if the marketing team has thought this out entirely? Does CK mind becoming known as a brand for “plus size women”?

@azdr0710 is totally correct in how to approach this issue. Aspen escorted very briefly a few years ago. I’m not sure if he liked the experience or not. I follow him on Twitter and JFF he doesn’t mention anything about currently being available for hire. I’d certainly hire him if he were available.
