Words have meaning, and I think most clients and providers share a basic understanding of the terms therapeutic (non-sexual, masseur probably trained), sensual (not necessarily trained and primarily designed for giving pleasure), and erotic (masseur naked, MT, and HE). Prices reflect these differences, and ads support these definitions.
I love it when a masseur, on their own, describes their services in their initial communications with me (I’m generally only looking for erotic massage.), but it’s not necessary: they are telling me in their ad (with the text, with me photos, with the price) what I can anticipate. I never ask explicitly for details of what they will provide in advance. Private massage is wrongly existing in a legally marginal zone, so I don’t find these questions appropriate. On rare occasions I’ve gotten something different than was advertised—almost always MORE than what was advertised—but that’s just the occasional “bad” service that one sometimes gets in any profession.
I go to this forum to learn from my brothers, not to hear truisms like “everybody is different” or “depends on the person” or most useless of all: “YMMV.” How do those things help?

I pretty much only want an erotic massage, but I actually needed some good therapeutic massage and stretching this week, so I finally took the plunge with Ricky. I went in knowing that I wouldn’t be dissatisfied, if he didn’t go beyond that hose two things.
He was a surprisingly small person (5’ 6”?), aside from the obvious, that the photos and everybody’s comments accurately represent. I think the Rentmasseur pictures are probably all him, but if so, he has lost a lot of the bodybuilder bulk. I actually like his more natural look better.
He greeted me in just underwear, so I guessed that our time together would be more than therapeutic, and it was.
The Thai massage/stretching—which took well over a half hour (I asked for a 90 min) session)—was outstanding, almost worth the whole price. The oiled massage was even better. The whole experience was intense, almost emotional, even though he was very quiet throughout, which isn’t usually my preference.
His underwear came off quickly, and the experience had all of what I associate with an erotic massage. All in all, the best find for me in the last couple of years.

I hope that’s not the case. “Some” are always going to think what they want. Clients, however, until they learn otherwise, should respect how providers advertise. If a massage provider decides to offer “full service,” on the other hand, I respect that too!
I consider the provider’s nudity, at least at some point in the massage (preferably from the start), an essential part of erotic massage (along with MT and HE). He can decide to keep his clothes on, of course, but I won’t return to him for an “erotic massage.”
In the specific case of Lucas, it’s a shame he doesn’t show more in his ads, even just a shirtless pic, especially since he offers sensual and erotic massage. He’s kind of physical perfection. If I looked like him, I wouldn’t ever put clothes on!

Always happy to report a positive experience! I just saw Lucas, and it was just about the perfect erotic massage. He’s got actual massage skills and uses them in a detailed and firm/deep way. He’s unbelievably good-looking in the altogether, so it’s a mystery to me why he doesn’t share more revealing pictures in his ad. Finally, maybe best of all, he’s really sweet.

Hey, FLJock, no! I come here to learn as much as possible about other people’s experience. I find “YMMV” annoying, partly because it’s redundant. Every combination of people is going to be produce different experiences. Providers are not robots! More than that, though, I mostly see it used by people who have gotten “extras,” which implies that others might not. I don’t see any value in that comment. I hope my brothers on this site get everything they hope for!
BTW: Cristianok also only offers therapeutic massage on his RM page too. I’m not sure why. So much of the beautiful thing he does is sensual/erotic. I can’t picture him any other way.

Three times in my career I’ve showed up and the provider was a different person than in the ad. It was flabbergasting, but it “worked,” I guess, since each time, I was so confused that I just went through with it and never came back.
I’ve figured out now how (such as using this site) to reduce the chance of that happening again, but, wow! This profession has enough challenges for providers already. You gotta nerves of steel to greet someone at the door that you’ve catfished!

Honestly... Don't put too much weight into the type of massage offered. I've had penetrative sex during a massage with "Therapeutic only" providers. On the other hand, I've had "Erotic" massages without any touching of the genitals and the masseur remained clothed. I still kept going back to that "Erotic" masseur because he gave a damn good therapeutic massage and his rate was reasonable. When I asked him outright for an "Erotic" massage during a repeat visit, he replied that it was Erotic because I was naked and he worked my glutes and thighs.
So, yeah, I don't really pay attention to those categories. If I'm looking for guaranteed sex, I just hire an escort.
I think one should definitely pay attention to how providers advertise. That’s a basic professional courtesy.
This is not to say that many (most?) providers of private massage aren’t open to more intimacy than they advertise. Reading their Rentmasseur reviews or posts about them here, checking out the text and photos in their ads can give you additional information about the latitude of their services, but there’s no need to go to someone who is only offering therapeutic massage, if you want something more. There are lots of options out there.
For what it’s worth—and from considerable personal experience—here’s how I see these categories:
Therapeutic: massage intended for health, both physical and mental. These guys are often professionally trained and just prefer the independence of not working in a “legit” spa. The only consistent difference I have seen from the health spa experience is that there is, mercifully, no prudish draping.
Sensual: massage focused on pleasure, without introducing more conventional aspects of sexual expression. These guys tend to be self-taught and have recognized a market for men who will pay for the luxury of being touched by another, usually handsome man.
Erotic: massage incorporating the interactive and more explicitly sexual possibilities of massage. I would be disappointed if I hired someone for an erotic massage and he stayed fully clothed throughout, sent signals that he did not want me to touch him, and that HE was not available. I’ve had rare instances where this happened, but I just didn’t hire them again.

I’ve posted a reply about Cristianok before, but as I just saw him last Saturday, I thought I’d throw in again that he still is one of the very best private masseurs I’ve ever had. Besides being shockingly good-looking, he’s a kind soul and intensely focused on providing a pleasurable experience. I didn’t get a tiered pricing message when I first starting seeing him when he visited NYC about 5 years ago, so we’ve got a long understood payment arrangement. One other thing: I don’t really get or like the use of “YMMV” (like above) on this site. I don’t see its value in these communications. Since it’s only ever used, from what I’ve seen, to describe extras beyond what I understand to be the generally understood expectations of “erotic” massage (masseur naked (at some point), MT, and HE), I feel like it’s a given that one can’t predict if the masseur will offer more. That’s an aspect of humanity and individuality that’s beyond legitimate expectations for this job. I really only want to hear what guys on this site did or didn’t experience with a masseur. It’s genuinely unhelpful to tell me that I might not get the extras that others got. I know that already!
