Becoming an independent home health aide often involves additional hoops, since you may have to get business licenses and additional certifications depending on state and local laws. You also would have to do the paperwork so that Medicare/insurance could pay you (instead of paying the person who pays you). It can be done, but speaking as a small businessman, there are several things you have to keep in mind when getting set up.

I still smile big when I hear the March of the Cukoos.

I can appreciate the thought, but if he gets clients via a state/federal program or by referral from an agency (implied as it was his last "assignment" that passed), then he might not get to pick his clients, much less their sexual orientation (a protected class in NY, if I remember right). Anti-discrimination laws and all that.

I've not been a fan of beards ever since I got rug burn after a long make out session with my 1st beau when he decided to grow one. Once burned, twice shy.

As my father would have said, "he couldn't find his ass with both hands in his back pockets."

Yeah..."bless your heart" is usually said with a certain degree of sarcasm and irony. It ranks right up there with "aren't you precious."

Maybe it was spellcheck "correcting" what he was really trying to say?

Too many variables to make an educate guess, especially without having any idea where you may be located. Is it the "off season" for tourists where you are, for example? (It's the wrong time of year for the Carribean, for example....hurricane season and everything.) Have regular clients gotten married or otherwise monogamously involved? Have there been a lot of home-town sporting events (baseball games, for example) during the weekends, or is a local team angling for the playoffs? Another thing to keep in mind is that it is just now "post-pride" season for a lot if cities....people went wild for a while and may still be recovering or catching up on things they should have done had they not been partying.

Meh. I'll just watch the movie and drool over Ewan McGregor.

It was sent by a Nigerian prince who needs your bank account numbers in order to give you half a billion dollars. Mark the email as junk/spam, and forget about it.

When an escort asks the client to send an Uber
bnm73 replied to + 7829V's topic in Questions About Hiring
I might offer to call someone a taxi, but if someone insists on Uber, then it's a no-go for me. This is more based on me not caring for Uber's business practices and models than not being willing to make travel accommodations, though. -
I've seen so many variations on what "BFE" means that the phrase doesn't seem to have much meaning (in an objective sense), though...and if that's what it means to you, then I can understand why you (and some others) might find it appealing. Personally, it doesn't interest me, though. Different strokes for different folks.

...often at reasonable rates.

Maybe I'm a little behind the times.... ...but if I wanted a "boyfriend experience," I would get myself a boyfriend. If I'm looking for an escort, then I want to get down to business, as it were.

LOL. Beepers! I had one for a short while as an experiment. One evening there was a car accident right in front of me. I stopped to see if anyone was hurt, and I had to argue for several minutes with a couple of people people that just because I had a beeper didn't mean that I was a doctor. I came very close to yelling at the people "I'm a hooker, all right?!" but thought better of it.

\ Well, as was said earlier, Rentboy didn't exist until the end of my time. And there weren't really any magazines (like Washington Blade) in New England that I was aware of at the time -- apart from the local weekly rag....and they often rejected ads for gay hookups in their personals column, to say nothing of trying to advertise erotic services. Unless you wanted someone else making arrangements for you and taking a cut of (or most of) your money, you had to be a little creative. Remember the social context. This was a time of a certain amount of anti-gay hysteria. Clinton signed the "Defense of Marriage Act" in 1996. "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" was codified in law (signed by Clinton) in in 1993. And this was what passed as a "progressive" president at the time. I don't remember having a cell phone at the time....I seem to remember that I didn't get one until I left the industry. I didn't see the expense as being worth it. Most of my contacts were not by phone. They were usually more fact-to-face. I did have a second (unlisted) phone number at my home for a while so that some trusted clients could call or leave a message.

Why are so many Young Men so shy about Nudity?
bnm73 replied to + HornyRetiree's topic in The Lounge
Then why go to co-ed nude beach and make such a display of putting on a bathing suit? Or why go to a nude beach at all? I can appreciate your sentiment, but I'm not sure that it would necessarily apply in this context? -
1998 was toward the end of my time as an active escort.... I remember cultivating friendships, with bartenders, bouncers, etc., at the gay clubs. They would then point any interested parties my way when I was there. .I'm assuming that's no longer as important. And the "call in to meet" party line services (Megaphone, I think one was called????) back in the day...
