Funny that this popped up. I hate Grindr, the damn pop up ads you're forced to sit through, the ageism, and the fake profiles using other peoples pics to scam you. I've had to report several profiles pretending to be friends of mine where they've stolen their pics off instagram. Just yesterday I had someone hit me up asking if I liked massages. No location data and a very sparse profile. The pic is of a forum member here who is a provider but lives hundreds of miles away. The person then proceeded to send more pics, of the same person, and told me to click a link to schedule which used a tinyURL which obfuscates the actual site. I questioned the person twice and said I knew the person in the pic and they never responded, just kept up with the scam. I reported him immediately and his profile was gone in a half hour.

 

I never have these issues with Scruff.

I have been hiring escorts for 5 years now and I agree some boys are simply advertising as escorts in order to scam people. However, I also have experience serving as secretary to a few amazing providers. Doing this job has taught me that the "Legit to Scammer" ratio is much more positive on the escort side than it is on the client side. I'd say the guys I help out get about 100 inquiries per day, 65 of them are guys just trying to talk dirty, guys who know the escort in real life and are trying to mess with them, or guys trying to scam their way into getting with the escort then ditching when it comes time to pay. Even going so far as to send an ACH deposit that will show pending for days and then bounce after the booking ends. About 30 typically want to pay well below what the escort wants to get paid or aren't even in the same city but ask if you'll the escort would visit for a 1 hour session, and maybe 5 turn out to be legit serious clients.... In my hiring experience, I've tried contacting plenty escorts who never responded or truly sucked at communicating. I've had guys who were duds in person or who didn't do everything we agreed to. But 99 percent of the guys Ive spent money on were who they said they were, and showed up. The overwhelming majority of calls and texts an escort gets are from broke ass wankers trying to have phone sex, scammers, idiots and young guys or physically fit guys thinking they can use rentmen like Grindr, and guys who shouldn't be hiring because they can't afford it.

 

I can understand how being asked for a deposit to confirm an appointment can make you weary. But it's pretty easy these days to verify that the escort and his pics are real. It's extremely difficult to figure out which inquiries are real and which are complete wastes of time.

I am referring to the scam on Grindr, etc, not specifically Rent Men. However, to your point, I say the same thing I say to guys who run any biz - if you don't like it, find ssomething else.

He got back in touch, apologized for canceling last minute Friday and offered extra 20 minutes yesterday for same Friday special price. Against my better judgement I agreed.
