They are not doing “immigration checks” per se, they are checking IDs, which those masseurs cannot provide. Comparing an advertisement in a national newspaper for landscaping, etc. to an adult-oriented website advertising massages is absurd. And, again, they’re not checking immigration, they’re ensuring identification. Are you certain about that? Are you SURE the government wouldn’t do anything? In today’s political climate, as a business owner, you can’t be sure. As someone mentioned upthread, maybe they don’t want to take the chance. I know I wouldn’t. And that’s what they’re doing, requesting ID to ensure the advertiser is over the age of consent. How is this an intrusion on their personal lives? If you want to advertise on an adult-oriented website, proof is needed that you’re of the majority age. You cannot purchase a vehicle without a license. You know the dealer would be more than willing to sell you the car if they could get away with not following the rules, but that could cause problems. Same thing here. Employers are REQUIRED to check employees’ immigration status with either a Social Security card or an I-9 form before hiring them. Why do you think this should not be done? Wow! Talk about histrionics! It’s not an intrusion. I doubt these people will “lose their livelihood” from not being able to advertise on a particular website. And no one is pitting the gay community against “immigrants” (by the way, you left out the word ‘illegal’). Do you think that because this website doesn’t allow them to advertise that the gay community is suddenly going to hate immigrants, or the particular website? Why would this website’s policies change the way one would feel about immigrants? That makes no sense. As a business owner, my primary responsibility is to make sure my business stays up, running and viable. It would not be a stretch for the government to come in and say, “See! Cruiser is contributing to the sex slave trade! He even allows undocumented immigrants (the most victimized) to advertise on his website. Why, he didn’t even check to be sure they’re of legal age, he never checked their IDs at all! This has to stop!” Whether or not any of that is true isn’t the point. The point is I’m not going to lose my business by defending against these charges. I’d rather err on the side of caution and not permit the advertisement at all. By the way, illegal immigrants (or as the politically correct love to say for some reason, ‘undocumented’) are not supposed to work in the United States without the proper...you guessed it...documentation!

Not only to post, to READ a post (not even reply), too. This is yet another roadblock. A lot of people will not take the time or want to give up personal info to a new, untested website just to see ads. I’m afraid unless they change this, it’ll go down too.

No, it wasn’t, and was honestly interesting. Besides, this is a discussion/message board. If people don’t write and tell these sorts of stories, what’s the point? I found it very interesting and relevant FWIW.

Just text in big bold capitalized letters: “CLEAN YO ASS!” But seriously, OP, I think saying something like “I absolutely love to rim a clean butt. Is that something you’d be OK with?” If that was sent to me, I’d say to myself, “I better make sure I take precautions down there and am throrough before I meet this guy.” Of course, that’s no guarantee, especially if someone doesn’t know what “clean” (spotless) is, but it’s a polite way of iniating it. I see people on Grindr who write that and I usually move along because maybe I’m coming from work and, while I’m generally hygienic as it is, if I’ve been working all day..well, you get the point.

Damn! I misread that as “Cruiser” journalism school and got excited for a minute there.

Hi, Jack! (bigman) Even though this is obviously Jack advertising, why would anyone want to go there? Especially when you say “But he do not do another thing to you”?

You have pot at your office?! Check you out ya lucky bastard!

I feel your pain, @biggerbilly I (now) hare that feature, too. I’ve seen a few ads for Suffolk and, since we all know how huge Suffolk is, I click on map me. There’s only two guys that show on the map as being in Suffolk. All the other guys, even if they’re “based in: Suffolk” show a NYC map when you click map me. At first I thought it was where he was at that given minute (like Grindr), but soon learned, as you did, the feature is pointless for Long Islanders.

Even the admin on that board had something relatively negative to say about him. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that. I was actually stunned. He’s a hard pass as far as I’m concerned.
-
Where did you initially find him back then? I mean what site. His name and/or description really doesn’t ring a bell with me, especially since I like Italian masseurs and probably would’ve booked had I seen him advertised. That’s why I was wondering.

Sommamabitch! Who let them in on the secret dammit? I’ll bet it was Chet. It was Chet, wasn’t it?

I got a message saying they’ll be back up in 47 minutes (an odd number), so I assume it was scheduled maintenance.

You are correct, of course, which is why discretion is in order. I personally like to think (even if I’m deceiving myself) that: 1) the NYPD has better things to do; and 2) the owners have invested a lot of money into these spas, so I doubt they’d be willy-nilly with their business. Interesting aside...where I live, every time they bust a “massage parlor” (really female R&T joints), they never arrest the customers. They arrest the staff, usually for practicing without a license (which is a felony in NY), because unless they’re in the room with you and can see “activity” in exchange for a larger tip (let’s say) they have no way of proving it in court.

To put it simply, no. I don’t know where this urban legend comes from, but it’s ridiculous to think any undercover operation in the United States could come to a screeching halt merely by asking someone “are you a cop?” The very notion of that is preposterous.

I’m thinking of going on Wednesday. I would not like an Asian masseur (only because all of the places on Long Island are Asian—so it’s very easy for me to do that here). How do you go about that? It seems from past posts calling for an appt. doesn’t work, and do you get to select your guy as a walk-in? Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Must agree with myophile here and say Apollo. Without a doubt the nicest guy you’ll want to meet. With everything he has to be arrogant about if he wanted to, there’s not an ounce of it in him. And genuine nice guy. Just one example: he knows I’m into football and, during the season, sometimes he texts me about the games. Why? Just to keep in touch and be a nice guy. He’s still around, but doesn’t advertise (at least I haven’t found an ad for him recently). The next time I see him I’ll ask if it’s OK to give out his contact info.

I’m not saying some of the posts on that thread didn’t violate the TOS. What I’m more upset about is the scorched-earth policy of taking down EVERY post from the thread, regardless. I’m tired of everyone being punished for one person’s screw up (and I don’t mean just here, but in work life too). If a poster, or a post, violates the rules, take THAT post and/or that poster down, but not literally years of past posts by nuking the whole thread!

I’m sorry, but I don’t see the point. Why should we start a new thread, especially one that was probably the most active on this whole board, only for the mods to shut it down again because someone did or said something they were supposed to and lose all that knowledge? That’s really effed up to me. Not worth it.

GREAT work, nomadic. Awesome idea, too.

Anyone have any info on this guy? I realize NY is more NYC-centric, but I thought he may have been in the City at one time. Any help appreciated. https://www.masseurfinder.com/massage-therapists/34976/

Already been covered but deserves another mention: “Going forward.” I don’t know when it entered the lexicon, but it drives me nuts. Also, “so...” as the first word in response to a question: “How long have you worked here?” “So, it’s been about 2 years.” “Did you come up with this product on your own and did someone help you?” “So, my friend Jezebel and I came up with it.” Aaaargh.

I totally agree with that, Benjamin. In fact, based on some escort’s responses on these threads, they have made me want to hire them even more.

Gas Prices in Your area, Let's hear about it.

I love the way you put that. As though someone went out there and “installed” mountains. I’ve said things like that before. I was in Denver once and saw a mountain range and told my friends, “I’ll bet you they painted those mountains so they look like the mountains on the Coors Light bottles.” -
Do not ask “are you in law enforcement?” in your texts. It makes you look amateurish and implies you’re doing something illegal. Aside from that, in spite of the widely held (and ridiculous) belief that a cop must tell you he’s a cop, he doesn’t. So there’s no point in asking anyway.
