  1. all true but a comment says he had a serious liver condition a year ago. as much as we complain about getting old, the alternative is worse. maybe the 1st porn star to die young not from drugs. disqus_NN22QPEbmj • a day ago Wow. This is completely heartbreaking. Only 22 with a bright future ahead of him. I always like Alex, he seemed down to earth , nice, and never had any controversies. I remember he was hospitalized in 2019 with liver problems. Wonder if that had anything to do with his sudden death. R.I.P Alex. He's clearly gonna be missed by a lot of people. I feel terrible for his family and Jacob.
  2. I'm not sure. About to find out. I assume it'll still be masked. TJ's has a lot of checkers and no self-check at all. Edit. DC must have its own grocery mask law b/c everyone had one on in store. On the crowded sidewalk outside though only about 25% had masks on. A third of last week.
  3. Breaking: Trader Joe's becomes the first chain to drop all mask requirements. I have to walk over and get some milk soon at my Millenial/hipster TJ's and this may get interesting. (I'll wear one anyway). You have to wear masks here to prove you're not a Republican, most especially TJ's. Has little to do with covid. By next week I'm sure many or most chains will follow.
  4. ironic how a conservative gov't in Australia likes to keep foreigners out while a liberal one in the US feels the same. Trump never built his wall but Australia's got the world's biggest moat.
  5. I've noticed walking around the hood that while last week 75% or so were wearing masks outdoors on the sidewalks, under half are this week. And a lot are cheating not covering their nose in stores. Most masked are virtue-signaling, afraid someone will think they're Republicans. Funny that every time I get off the plane in Florida I rarely see any more masks. Like they never had covid. I have some breathing problems so I'm glad to be rid of the near suffocation for the summer. But come cold weather I'll mask more again to avoid flu and new viruses. The big deal in DC is when the gay bars will legally be 100% capacity. DC's very bar/cafe centered.
  6. of course the key is protection from dying or a severe case if infected. your real concern should be how to figure out how immune you are as an individual. the vaccine provides less protection against mild-to-moderate cases for many on certain drugs and immune-suppressants, although thankfully it protects almost equally from serious cases or death. also we don't know yet how long the protection lasts at full strength or partial. I'll be travelling a lot to Europe soon too and am going to start purchasing travel health insurance since I hear their free healthcare no longer covers Americans (calling Mr. Biden!). any sort of covid hospitalization could be disastrously expensive.
  7. WTF https://www.godsavethepoints.com/australia-closing-until-2022-tourism-minister/ It’s time to put the sunscreen away, at least for now. Australia has confirmed rumors that the current plan to reopen the beloved country for inbound travel will be virtually non existent until late into 2022, and that’s if things continue to progress well.
  8. Google which owns YouTube and Android has certainly become more censored and conservatively moralistic as it becomes more and more of an Indian company. Even it's search results are getting suspect. Of course Facebook has been headed down this path. And in a way I'm just as worried about what information they are collecting and for whom if they have these moral assumptions. I don't know why Twitter stays more liberal on gays but it could be bought any day.
  9. Not a MD but "much experience". it's in both feet equally now but at first my right was terrible for almost a year from a strained PF. I've had to give up long walking (over 3/4 mile at a stretch). I have high arches and was a marathon runner in early years...........but age and weight happened. Been to my podiatrist (Kaiser) a dozen times and tried everything. The best is tight compression socks without toes. Increased blood and healing, lifts the arch, makes the heel snug if that's also an issue, and generally lets your foot deal with much more standing and walking than otherwise. They're the gold standard especially for women who have to stay on their feet a lot and once you try them you're hooked. Easier to use and cooler are the arch support sleeves that only wrap around the arch to lift. I also have a little arthritis in my mid-foot bone joints which are under the arches. they rarely mention that but it matters. feels like a little electric jolt in the middle of the bottom of your feet. (and unfortunately sometimes feels like a big electric jolt.) these are great: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0895FJ5FH/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 these are "ok", should be tighter https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07QQZR4LX/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  10. make sure to use Priority Mail ($7) to track. otherwise your chances of receipt by IRS are not great.
  11. +1 and all the sidewalk cafes would be less comfortable on a wider street. it doesn't hurt Los Olas to slow down those couple blocks. has anyone tried out the new Hyatt Centric in the highrise down the street from the Riverside Hotel? reviews are mixed and it's around $168 + $20 resort fee = parking while the Riverside is usually $125. i think there's another luxury hotel nearby too. rip out this tree? the tree awning there is what makes that block of Los Olas so nice.
  12. Malik Delgaty is pretty prolific on IG and he's showing a lot of videos of Johnsons and the other dancers while he's there this month. https://www.instagram.com/malikdelga/ His twitter's more X but so as Johnsons-oriented:
  13. did you have a car?
  14. People always think I'm weird for staying downtown but the Riverside is a very very nice big luxury hotel in a beautiful historic downtown area with plenty of nice restaurants and cafes and a short hop to the beach east or the bars north.
  15. Malik Degaty from Montreal is at Johnsons for a month and posted some vids from the locker room on IG and the guys are having trouble finding bags for all their tips, so it's crowded and busy. I was there a month ago for a weekend but it was still spring break which is different. Hotels will be easy enough in June but rental cars are still very very high. I Ubered and stayed at the Riverside downtown.
  16. Winslet's evolved perfectly into that beloved character of a semi-grumpy. semi-beautiful, middle-aged strong family woman. Wawa's evolved the other way, and not so gracefully. I remember stopping at them for gas and a very good sub years ago. Then they opened a no-gas store in College Park with very good subs. Now they're opening all these urban downtown stores, including a couple by my house and both there and the gas station Wawa's have "ok" subs, no better. They're 7-11's with slightly better hot food. The gas station ones still have better food than Exxon or other stations with 7-11's. The best subs by far chain-wise are Pot-Belly which are now everywhere. I'm wondering if this 7-or-8 hour mini-series per season has become a standard format. I really don't like the 1-hour-per-week rollouts. I'm hoping that the "Undoing" is not a new format where they let you know the murderer early and spend the show on character studies.
  17. I had never filed with Turbo Tax until this year and was glad I tried because the first time they require your 2019 gross as an ID for IRS and I discovered my 2019 federal had never been received (tiny refund). My DC had been received and cashed and I mailed them at the same time. Luckily I had copies' I assume because of the post office pandemic problems this was a big issue last year. Good to check and make sure last year's returns were received. (I used Priority this year and already got delivery confirmations).
  18. I've been to Clearwater 3 times, Sarasota once and Ft Lauderdale twice since the pandemic began. At first S FL was locked down and the west coast of FL was completely open with wide spaces. Now FTL is open and packed. The huge difference since the beginning is rental cars all but disappeared and now are starting to make a comeback but with outrageous rental prices. Last two times in FtL I was quoted $650+tax a week for midsize by National, where I used to use a corp code for $160/week. I Ubered. FLL airport is close in and Clearwater/St Pete airport is close in. Miami airport and Tampa airports are far for Uber. Check rental prices first and assume you'll need to Uber.
  19. I hope this doesn't mean they're going to shut down SA because of an under-18 slipping through and jail people like BackPage. After SESTA we're all waiting for the moral crusade to begin and are surprised it's held off so long.
  20. unlike Bali, where I'd be more concerned, the capital Male would be my only worry as in Maldives most resorts are waaaay out on their own secluded atolls only reachable by seaplane.
  21. you think they may not let uncut dick in?
  22. i've watched Tenet twice and almost halfway understand it, so i catch everything i can now.
