  1. I’ll be in the area the week of May 20th and am also interested!
  2. Thanks for traveling so far to join the group. It was very nice meeting you.
  3. A bit of a generalization, perhaps?
  4. https://rentmen.eu/chasetvanderbilt One review by @citylaw1 who is a trusted reviewer. Although too skinny for my tastes, I’m certain he’s legit.
  5. Agree with @maninsoma. According to Martha Stout MD, in her book The Sociopath Next Door, the prevalence rate is about 4%, so undoubtedly most of us have encountered them or even have sociopathic relatives. I’m sure providers encounter them as well, although I think in most cases it’s more fear or self-loathing that leads to what you might think is sociopathy.
  6. Saturday, as has been noted, is the toughest and most fun for me. I actually finish the Sunday puzzle in pen about 90% of the time.

  8. There is a current thread here and on the other site started by @latbear4blk about Mexico City.
  9. It really was! It was nice meeting you too.
  10. I tend to stick with regulars so I like hosting at my hotel or house.
  11. You are absolutely correct! I often join friends for dinner or drinks and enjoy sparkling water or mocktails; yet still have a great time. I got to the point where I felt “entitled” to a glass or two of wine every night. I simply stopped and was grateful to find how easy it was, although I know very well that it’s almost impossible for many to stop. There seems to be a growing sobriety movement and Millennials, in particular, are drinking less. I’ve mentioned an app that can be very helpful. It’s called Dry Days. Like any accountability tool, it forces you to “check in” every day. For me, it’s gratifying to see the dry days add up. For those who would like to take a break from alcohol, it’s really a useful tool.
  12. I’ve witnessed this first-hand with a former business partner. He must have hit close to 400 pounds when he decided on the surgery, in Tijuana. Up to that time, he avoided client interaction because of his weight. After the surgery, he started drinking huge amounts of beer, combined with habitual pot use, benzos and pain killers. He also began to show signs of early dementia. Really sad. Lost his wife, friends. Alienated his family. We believe the surgery was the precipitating factor.
  13. Looks like InnDulge is around the same price as Vista Grande, where we stayed. VG was really fine. Although we didn’t take many meals there, they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. The staff couldn’t have been nicer. Many thanks to Oliver for arranging everything so expertly, to Epigonos for the deviled eggs and other delicious food, and to all the attendees for making the weekend so memorable and enjoyable!
  14. Enjoying a morning cup of coffee on the patio in San Clemente before heading out to the desert. Weather looks like it’ll be perfect. About 50 and sunny here.
  15. I don’t dispute that!
  16. That’s what I was thinking.
  17. Jeez, that’s a bummer. He really wants to do an overnight with me and fly to Birmingham, where I want to check out the burgeoning restaurant scene. I’m not buying a r/t only to have him flake.
  18. The German blond looks scrumptious!
  19. Yeah, I remember that one. Gotta love those double-knit suits and stacked shoes. What a sartorial disaster the 70’s were. Even then, I made my mother buy me Chemise Lacoste shirts, which were then made in France. I think they were $15.
  20. Atorvastatin? A statin.
  21. Verbose? 17 words? Lol
