A 23-foot-long python has swallowed a woman in central Indonesia, a village official said Saturday.

 

The victim, 54-year-old Wa Tiba, went missing while checking her vegetable garden near her village on Muna island in Southeast Sulawesi province on Thursday evening, according to the village chief, Faris.

 

On Friday, her family went to look for her at the garden but found only her belongings, including sandals and a flashlight, said Faris, who uses a single name.

 

The family and villagers launched a search for the woman, and found the snake with a bloated belly about 50 meters from where her belongings were found.

 

The villagers killed the snake and carried it to the village.

 

“When they cut open the snake’s belly they found Tiba’s body still intact with all her clothes,” Faris said. “She was swallowed first from her head.”

 

Videos posted on some websites showed villagers slicing open the python’s carcass to reveal the woman’s body.

 

Faris said the victim’s garden, about half a mile from her house, is located in a rocky area with caves and cliffs believed to contain many snakes.

 

Reticulated pythons, which are widespread in Indonesia and other parts of Southeast Asia, grab onto their prey with dozens of sharp curved teeth and then squeeze it to death before swallowing it whole.

 

Reports of humans being killed by pythons are extremely rare. In the wild they are known to eat monkeys, pigs and other mammals.

 

It was the second python attack on a human in Indonesia since March last year, when a 25-year-old man was swallowed whole by a python in West Sulawesi province.

They don’t just teach history at Dewitt Clinton High School — they cover it up too.

 

School officials wrecked a beautiful New Deal-era mural at the storied Bronx high school by slathering a coat of high-gloss, cotton-candy blue paint over it.

 

"Constellations" by German-born painter Alfred Floegel was installed on the ceiling outside DeWitt Clinton's library in 1940. It depicted the stars in the heavens alongside another large-scale Floegel mural called "History of the World."

 

The paintings, deemed Floegel’s masterpieces, were both used in history lessons. They also appear in the Department of Education’s online art collection, “Public Art for Public Schools.”

 

 

“It is a kind of Sistine Chapel of New Deal artworks,” wrote Richard Walker, a University of California/Berkley professor who directs the Living New Deal project, which aims to preserve New Deal-era artworks.

 

Floegel, who was born in 1894 and died in 1976, worked on the paintings for six years, Walker wrote in 2015 on his project’s website. At the time, he was teaching night courses at DeWitt Clinton, school staffers said.

 

Half of his masterpiece disappeared in November, when construction workers painted over the ceiling mural to spruce up for a visit by then-schools chancellor Carmen Farina, according to school staffers.

 

Farina never made the visit.

 

Education Department officials tell a different story — they say the painting was covered over as workers repaired damage to the building.

“It’s messed up. Obviously there was a meaning for it to be painted,” said tenth-grader Leolanie Bonilla, 16. “No one values art like that no more.”

 

Staffers said the murals were refurbished in the 1990s and that Floegel’s son Alfred Jr. visited the murals and met with former DeWitt Clinton principal Santiago Taveras a few years ago on a tour of his father’s work.

 

City Education Department spokesman Doug Cohen said the city is seeking ways to recover the mural.

 

Cohen wouldn't say what Education Department official ordered the murail painted over, or if the matter is being investigated. “We're exploring ways to restore this historic artwork,” Cohen said.

 

Cohen said he couldn’t provide an estimate as to the mural’s value.

 

Manhattan appraiser Bonnie Kagan said that appraising such a rare work would be difficult.

 

“You’d have to see what it would cost to replace the mural with something similar today,” Kagan said.

Was this done under the auspices of a WPA project? If so, surely there would be hell to pay for the school district or school.

The son of actor Ryan O’Neal and the late Farrah Fawcett has been charged with attempted murder in an alleged crime spree last month that included randomly attacking five men and robbing a 7-Eleven convenience store.

 

Los Angeles police say Redmond O’Neal was charged Friday.

 

KABC-TV reports that the 33-year-old O’Neal, who’s struggled with drug addiction, is charged with punching or stabbing five men over several days last month in the Venice Beach and Palms neighborhoods.

 

Police say two men were seriously injured, including one who was stabbed in the face.

 

O’Neal already pleaded not guilty to a May 8 robbery and other charges, including possessing methamphetamine and heroin.

 

He’s been jailed for a month.

 

An email seeking comment from his attorney wasn’t immediately returned.

A,guy i know who is,very wealthy pays cops to come to his house in uniform after work interrogate him and put him in cuffs. They will sometimes take off their tops but never bottoms. He hasnt tried anything sexual on them but he does with other trade type. That is genius and hot!!!!!!
