  3. https://www.latimes.com/nation/la-na-kansas-lost-city-20180819-htmlstory.html?utm_source=fark&utm_medium=website&utm_content=link&ICID=ref_fark# "A few years ago, Donald Blakeslee, an anthropologist and archaeology professor at Wichita State University, began piecing things together. And what he’s found has spurred a rethinking of traditional views on the early settlement of the Midwest, while potentially filling a major gap in American history. Using freshly translated documents written by the Spanish conquistadors more than 400 years ago and an array of high-tech equipment, Blakeslee located what he believes to be the lost city of Etzanoa, home to perhaps 20,000 people between 1450 and 1700."
  4. I joined last September. I got off to a rough start. But everyone has been so kind, friendly, nice, helpful, thoughtful, supportive. I like that there are no insults or name calling or attacks or making things personal. THANK-YOU ALL!!!
  5. https://www.cicerone.org/us-en/what-is-a-cicerone-1 I didn't know there was such a thing. "The word Cicerone (sis-uh-rohn) designates hospitality professionals with proven experience in selecting, acquiring and serving today's wide range of beers. To claim the title of Cicerone, one must earn the trademarked title of Certified Cicerone® or hold a higher certification. Those with a basic level of expertise gain recognition by earning the first-level title Certified Beer Server. Only those who have passed the requisite test of knowledge and tasting skill can call themselves a Cicerone. If you want to see the full scope of what a Master Cicerone® should know see the Master Cicerone Syllabus."
  6. The future Louis XVI was 15yo when he married Marie Antoinette. She was 14yo. "At the dinner party the night of the wedding at Versailles, the night the union was to be officially consummated, the King [Louis XV his grandfather], at the head of the royal board, noticed the bridegroom on his right, shoveling in his food, and leaned over to whisper , “Don't overload your stomach tonight ” “Why not?” exclaimed the young husband , loud enough for all to hear. “I always sleep better on a full stomach” ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Queen Isabella II (1830-1904) of Spain about her husband "What shall I say of a man who on his wedding night wore more lace than I?"
  7. Big fan of "Maude". My favorite scene was when her husband Walter was feeling down so she invited an old friend to come and visit. They hadn't see each other in a long time. When they hugged the friend said "I'm so happy that I could die" and then dropped dead.
  8. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trap_shooting Anyone do that? I was surprised to hear on the radio that the high school I went to had a trap shooting team. It didn't when I went there. I'm surprised in this current day and age that any type of gun would be allowed on a school campus.
  9. I thought Vincent D'Onofrio looked beautiful in "Adventures in Babysitting". So when I heard that he was going to be in "L&O:CI" I looked forward to it but when I saw him there I was sorely disappointed! I was glad to find out that the now adult Anthony Rapp from the Babysitting movie is gay in real life. He is now is in the Star Trek series "Discovery". https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthony_Rapp
  10. It happened again! I was watching an episode of "The Stu Erwin Show" from 1951. In passing it was mentioned a biography of Queen Victoria by a man with the surname Lee. And indeed it's true! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sidney_Lee
  11. I've not been to the cinema in over 20 years. Many people leave during the closing credits but not wanting to fight the crowd I usually stayed until the very end. And especially after seeing "Adventures in Babysitting" I always did. The scene after the closing credits is a must see!
  12. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TXUqzqxXjJ4 Imo this movie should have won Oscars all around!
  13. What thoughtful parents! Scroll down a little to see him with it.
  14. https://nationaltoday.com/national-potato-day/ As a diabetic I miss potatoes more than I do bread.

  16. My father once had a cow he wanted bred so he took her to a fellow who had two bulls. But they would have nothing to do with her. I wonder if they were gay?
  17. Right, by hand. The cows looked forward to being milked; they'd be waiting at the gate to be let into the barn.
  18. I was watching an episode of "The Golden Girls" and Rose said that she had milked a cow. When I was in 6th, 7th and 8th grade we lived in the country. We had a couple of milk cows and sometimes I'd help my father.
  19. I have. The last movie that my sister and I went together to see was "Terms of Endearment". She so wanted to see it. She treated me to it. I was so bored! I thought the Debra Winger character would never die! I wanted to get up and jump through the screen and strangle her myself! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terms_of_Endearment ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ I wanted to walk out on "The Age of Innocence" but didn't want to have wasted my money. I knew the window ticket seller and told her and she told I could have gotten a refund. I don't know if that was just me or not. Sometimes she'd let me in free. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Age_of_Innocence_(1993_film) +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ One time I went to a double feature. I forget now the movie I wanted to see. The second movie was a Burt Reynolds movie. I left.
  20. Thank-you for the recommendation. The lesbian episode. I'm watching it now on YouTube.
  21. Thank-you! I know the name but could not pick Lady Gaga out of a crowd nor name any of her songs. https://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/ladygaga/pokerface.html

  23. That one I don't get. Sorry.
  24. Helmut Huxley & Jerome Exupery are a well known couple but now to my delight it seems that Hoyt Kogan & Christian Lundgren have become a couple also.
