She was not very helpful nor friendly. As long as I can make my own medical and financial decisions they won't help me. She advised me to contact Adult Protective Services and gave me their phone number. I don't know what they can do for me but I'll call them tomorrow.

There are 10 athletes and I only knew three of them - Karim, Adam, Tonya. And I've never seen any of them perform. I'm not a sports fan. When I was in high school I tried to avoid the jocks; they were bullies. Sometimes I failed.

Someone was asking what type of arthritis I have; I didn't remember. The Life Alert installer was here this morning. There is a questionnaire I have to complete and return and one question was about the type of arthritis I have so I just called the doctor's office. I called the county conservator's office twice yesterday and again this morning but they have not called me back.

Too late for that now. In the Winter I do wear socks to bed for warmth. Year round. Thanks! Thanks! I 'll try to remember to do that. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Last night was the first time in awhile that I did not have cramps in my feet and legs nor did my left leg feel "peculiar".

Well it's all water under the bridge now.

He was afraid that if he had non black socks that he might mistakenly put them on when he wore his uniform instead of a black pair.

But did he hear me or just drop off and run? I get about a dozen prescriptions in the mail. Good thing I have them delivered to my box at the UPS store. If they were delivered to my street address there'd be so many people hanging around some maybe the police would think I'm a dealer ;-)))

When I set up the arrangements last week with Life Alert I wanted it delivered to my box at the UPS store but then I realized it would be a couple of weeks before someone (my landlord) would be picking up the mail. And Life Alert wanted to make an appointment to install it as soon as possible. Home delivery would be best. My complaint is not home delivery per se but his just giving a knock and leaving it in front of my door. I explained to the Life Alert man that I wanted the UPS man to knock several times and wait for me and that I am slow getting to the door. I did not know their policy was just to leave it so anyone could steal it. I wonder what the theft rate is on UPS drop offs? I have not opened the box. I'll leave that to the installer. There are some papers in it that I will need to complete. The Life Alert man said that UPS will be back to pick them up on Thursday. Will the UPS knock and wait? The Life Alert man said I could tape it to the front door. Who cares if someone steals it! Right?

Years ago I knew this guy who was in the military. All his socks were black so he didn't have to worry about wearing the wrong color with his uniform. Off duty he liked to run. His running shoes and shorts and tee shirt were white but his socks were black. Looked odd but once he explained it to me it made sense.

Right! That's why I have that box. I do like the old joke. If FedEx and UPS merged they'd be FED-UP. ;-))) Just like many of their customers.

I've said that I have a friend in a nursing home in another state. I checked to see what the non emergency medical transport would be from here to there. $7500. Too dear for me.

I like that they have an office where I can have a box to get my mail. Even when I could get around I did not get / check my mail every day.

I'm just glad that I don't have to regularly deal with home delivery. Last time was last century. I remember one time back when I was working they left the package with my neighbors. And of course then the neighbors went away for several days. Another time - I was living in a large complex - I left a note to leave the package with the apartment manager; she lived in the complex. Of course they didn't. They left it with a neighbor.

Back in the 80s I subscribed to some artsy magazine and with a new subscription they would send some "gift". I did not know it would be sent UPS but one day I found a package on the porch. I did not open it. I went to the post office and mailed it back with a letter telling them to send the "gift" via USPS. Afterall the magazine would be coming via USPS. I never got the gift back nor a reply to my complaint letter.

I had forgotten just how bad home delivery is!

Last week I spoke to Life Alert to get their emergency system. I was told that UPS would deliver the equipment today (Monday). A few minutes ago I heard a knock on my door. I yelled that I was coming. I'm slow moving. When I got there the box was on the ground and no delivery man. I do not like that!!! What if I had not heard the knock? I'm not going anywhere but I don't like that type of service. Someone could have stolen it! When I called Life Alert to tell them it had arrived I complained about it but the woman said that's how UPS is. This is why since last century (1996) I have not gotten home mail delivery. I have a rent box at the UPS store in a shopping center three miles away.

I don't know. I hadn't thought of that. Thanks! It's difficult sometimes when one is alone and has no one to rely upon. In 1999 when I was in the hospital for two weeks I had a number of people come by everyday. In 2006 when I was in the hospital again I no visitors but two friends called me every day. One died in 2014 and the other last year. Now there would be no one.

Thanks! I'll take all advice under consideration. I do enjoy the sugar free water enhancements. There's MIO water but then I recently discovered Hawaiian Punch has one too.

Good advice. Moving around more would help but it is difficult. I don't know if it would help. Like last week when I fell in the parking lot I don't think a walker or cane would have prevented that.

I am resigned to it. I had a sister and had wanted to grow old with her but she died (suicide) over 30 years ago. I have not seen her children - one has since died and none have children - since last century and no other relatives since my father's funeral in 2000. The one friend I am still in contact is worse off that I am. She is older than I am, She had a stroke in 2002 and is in a nursing home in another state.

No more going outside for me. When I stand up I don't move for maybe a minute because my legs are shaky. And then when I do start walking I clutch onto to tables, chairs, walls etc..
