I don't know much about this either. I sent (e-mailed actually) the letter to his attorney (and cc'd him - that's how he knew my address) who presumably showed it to the DA/judge or whomever. He told me at the time that his lawyer may contact me, which I naturally thought meant testifying as some sort of character witness. The prospect of that did not thrill me given the true nature of our relationship but it turns out she never did get in touch. He may have told me the letter helped just to make me feel better. I'll probably never know for sure. BTW I checked online and the money order I sent him was cashed so we'll see if I ever hear back from him.

Ha Ha something like this almost happened to me! My then bf had a (straight) friend for whom he was apartment sitting - just stopping by a couple of times a day to get the mail, feed the cat, etc. So he asks me if I want to come with him. I said ok fine. After he takes care of his responsibilities we sit down on the couch and he starts getting frisky. I was very reluctant to do anything as the guy was supposed to be returning that same day but my other head got the better of me. I can't think of a single time that I wasn't able to get a same day appt. And from the "everything you see on TV must be true" dept. Every commercial I see on TV for health insurance plans say they have a new benefit - they will provide you with transportation to your doctors office if you can't get there by yourself. Hey this is exactly what my guy told me - they keep the $$ in an account for you and you can use the it to to buy stuff like soap, shampoo, stationary, stamps, snacks and probably even some things that don't start with the letter 's' . I feel a little better now. Oh by the way he told me one other thing that's not mentioned in the article - the state DOC takes 50% of whatever money is sent to an inmate as some sort of administrative fee , up to the first $600. After that they get to keep it all.

You don't seem crazy at all but rather sweet. Except for the sad ending your story reminds me of the Bible passage - "I needed clothes, and you gave me something to wear. I was sick, and you took care of me. I was in prison, and you visited me." Non-violent drug offenders should not be put in jail. I realize the discipline of prison may help them get their shit together but it probably does more harm than good on the average.

No I don't particularly have a thing for bad boys and this guy did not strike me at all as being troubled, though I did detect a bit of a quick temper. In fact I remember being impressed that he seemed a responsible young man with a definite plan for his future. He was in school when I first started seeing him, had a steady job and his own place after that and has, to my knowledge, not advertised his services since he started working. I believe I was his only remaining customer and I did consider him a friend. We'll see what happens.

This was a new one for me. Happened a couple of weeks ago. I knew the guy was in some trouble because he asked me for a character reference a few months back, but when I didn't hear back I thought everything was ok.
