After years of reading all his reviews, some of which made me laugh because of what people said... I just had to give the legend a try. Jake gave a good massage, had some odd conversation and play that I did not expect from a straight guy... then I got to meet the GF as I left the hotel. Jake has massage training although he is not a CMT. In my experience, he is very serious about the “massage” part of the massage. He is nude and is unafraid of touch while he massages, but he also has strong hands, concentrates on knots, and goes over the body systematically when you are lying face down. When you turn face up ... well, it’s a little different then and varies from session to session and, I suspect, from client to client. But Jake is comfortable with quite a few aspects of what can happen between 2 naked men.

Yes I have looked into the local teaching school. Problem with that is I can only go Saturdays (their busiest day). You have to book so far ahead. That is hard to do for me. I want to check it out sometime. I know I will be draped. I know nothing will happen. But the price is good (think its $40). If it turns out to be a good massage, that is a no brainer for me (scheduling allowing of course).

Ok. I took the plunge. Nice young man, sexy, not at all physically shy but not intrusively aggressive either. Ever so slightly less physically fit than I expected from his ad, but most definitely sexy. His massage technique focuses a bit more on sensuality and a bit less on working out knots and such than others I’ve hired. Overall, definitely a positive experience and I expect to hire him again.

As far as the frequency, I think many of us get more massages early on after “discovering” them, but then we calm down a little. I used to get a massage every 1-2 weeks but now I am down to one every 3 or 4 weeks.
 
I’ll splurge 2 a week when I travel to NYC but then in many cities the market is so bad that I’ll often get none, Boston being the latest example. And Montreal is an interesting outlier where I prefer to spend my money on dancers :-)
 
I think I’d get more massages if I lived in NY or Miami, maybe LA, the offer in these cities seems stronger. I like repeats with good masseurs who don’t mind doing my “trickier” areas (I run) and being naked with me, but there is not that many of those, especially not good looking ones that are 5’10” or taller (I am 6’4” and that can be tough for smaller guys). I’ll see a promising visitor who might turn into a repeat but these are mostly disappointments in my experience...

Yeah I’ve been there, I feel you. You got to remember that it’s a business, the better they make you feel the more money you’ll spend. Never lose sight of that. Keep things in perspective and you won’t be disappointed.

It can be an expensive habit. I have 2-3 guys I see in regular rotation plus I’m always on the lookout for new ones that might interest me. I try to limit myself to once a month but sometimes that doesn’t last. I’m probably spending upwards of $2K per year, maybe more. It’s my one indulgence I suppose.
