My first visit to the newer 27 Spa. Quite nice. Got Shane. Didn’t give him any instructions as I like to get a sense of the technique and vibe when I see a new masseur. Great session, friendly, communicative, definite repeat. Well integrated technique though next time will ask for stronger.
Kinda miss that crazy deep elbow action that Yura gave.

Thanks. I got your recommendation after I already went to Super Men Spa. I got a dude--white, never introduced himself--so can't tell you his name, very mediocre massage, high prices, and the dude at the desk was cold and unfriendly too--so not planning on going back there any time soon.

I recently had a massage at Energy Men Spa. The place is average in terms of facilities but will always hold a special place in my heart as it was one of the first spas I visited in NYC. It had been a while so I stopped by. They were busy but the guy at the desk said he could accommodate me. I had to wait maybe 10 minutes in the room then he made it. 

We both wore masks and he started out draping me with a towel. Rubbed over the towel and moved it to rub my back, then raised it over my back to rub my legs. As he rubbed up my legs he would rub his hand under my leg higher and higher. His hands were so soft. 
 
Eventually, he has me turn over on my back where he finishes the massage very nicely. He seemed so proud of his work. 
 
I loved it. Tipped well and thanked him. Will return. 
I recommend Energy Men Spa. 

? I could have sworn I saw a shower in the big restroom too bad they never thought to use it for a body scrub location. I guess I will have to call in a week.

Welcome welcome!! You mention both The One and Living Fresh... and adding Hush, Paradise and Super Men to this class, I personally don’t travel at this level mostly because of price point and the lower sensual to legit ratio (Super Men excluded).
 
Facilities-wise based on your likes, Times Squares Men’s Spa is newer, well run and has private showers which I really like. You won’t find “older” guys but the choices are predominately Asian, offer a mix of reasonably good tech and sensual sessions. Jimmy is tops and I’ve never had a bad experience there.
 
On the more seasoned and experienced side, Xiao is the owner of Shangrila and Utopia. Very good technical massage, especially if you tell him deep and with a nice sensual component but you’ll pay more at Shangrila which is really nice and plush, though not as private. Lots of great choices besides Xiao. Likewise for Utopia... Jerry.
 
Also Tony at Greenhouse is a little more older, and if asked will deliver a strong deep massage and you’ll leave happy.
 
There are definitely other older Asians who deliver deep but you’re going down market to the likes of East Men, W Men, Yeah Man and Rainbow88, which is more the level I hang at regularly.

Anyone have any good recommendations at Energy Men Spa?
 
M Star was one of my first regular spots when I moved here so the place provides a little nostalgia. But if it is just upselling and no quality, I don’t think I’ll waste my time.
 
FYI I prefer younger thin asian Masseurs who aim to please.
 
While on the note of seeking recommendations, I’m also on the hunt for a spa that uses a drape, even blindfold during the massage but still ends happily. There is something about a drape and blindfold that makes the experience seem more legit with a surprise at the end.

There's two different scenarios here: 1.) Tipping in a spa where the house takes a cut and 2.) Tipping an independent contractor who comes to your place/you go to theirs. (Basic math of a spa - $60 massage (let's say 30% goes to masseur = $20 + 20% tip = $32). So for someone in a spa you should tip remembering that the fee the masseur receives for the services is small and the bulk comes from your tip.
And scenario 2.) The whole fee goes to the masseur. $150 massage = $150. I think general consensus from this board is that, unless the independent contractor incurred some unexpected cost, that the fee is the fee ($Total = $150) and in a spa you should always tip to the level of service received.

Loved that part of the massage! That's usually what I'm looking for in a massage--sensual teasing, leaving you wondering what's gonna happen next...
