Do you even tip when the masseur is the owner of the practice? I can understand when is just a worker. But when he’s the owner I’d think it twice, I don’t feel that is that necessary to tip.

Yes darling. It is very modern to tip the owners, when they are providing services.

From a business perspective, masseurs are commission paid and being the owner does not necessarily mean he is making any money from the business, he is only making the commission from his massages. All the workers (including the owners portion of) commission goes to the overhead of the business. (rent, elec, etc..) 75% of small business like these operate without making a profit, which is why the owners are still providing services. Sad that the American dream is holding on by a thread.

I think it depends on you're market and the volume of local competition, my friend. In Atlanta, some of the travelers are booked up even before they arrive, so they are likely making more money with the increased prices, but are having to work less for it.

 

Then again, some retain their "available now" sign out for most of their stay, so I think it depend on the masseur. I also believe that this site is being to have an effect on a masseur's ability to make money, which is a good thing.

 

My problem isn't the increasing prices, ( I mean, I don't like it, but everything's going up), but rather the masseurs who are charging top dollar for sub-prime services.

We never had traveling masseurs coming to Orlando, until recently and he was telling me how much he "could be charging" .... only to see that he is basing it off of these traveling masseurs.

Now he is back down to $100 an hour and my other guy is down to $125 an hour.

Maybe it is just regionally, but I am in S FL every 2-3 weeks and I noticed that the available masseurs are more and more... and the prices are coming down from $160 an hour to $120 an hour. Unless they are traveling and then the price goes up.

I have been watching this guy (Dylan) for a while now, but $180 an hour is super steep. I emailed him and got a reply in 10 mins here in Orlando. Then he gave me several dates & times I could book with him... leading me to believe he was NOT getting booked as much as you would think.

In the end, all I ask is that they are great at massage and the the price allows me to partake regularly!

I appreciate that prices go up, but I also appreciate that there are many guys who have rates that seem reasonable compared to 10 years ago while others have rates that aren't that much different than some escorts. I have learned my lesson that just because an erotic masseur is charging rates closer to that of an escort that the session will necessarily be any more erotic than an average erotic massage. I get that someone who is a celebrity of sorts is going to command a higher rate, so my comment is less about Marc Dylan specifically and more broadly about the large number of masseurs I see with prices over $150.

I think that the traveling masseurs are traveling because their ponds are drying up, and then they travel and add more for their hotels. When local masseurs see this, they start to charge more... driving the prices.

Sadly, my local market has horrible masseurs, so I am hopeful when a traveler comes through, but sometimes it is a horrible experience. (thankful for this forum now)

I will say that every time I email or message a traveling masseur they have a lot of open appointments and reply right back. (so i don't think they are getting the amount of clients at that pricing)

I Miami it seems that some masseurs are lowering prices slowly... less price/ more clients = more consistent $$$.
