  1. In the May 5th issue of Time Magazine Marina Villeneuve/AP authored an article about previously undisclosed deaths from COVID-19 in nursing homes in New York. In that article she quoted the state's March 25 police that says "no resident shall be denied re-admission or admission to a nursing home soley based on a confirmed or suspedted diagnosis of COVID-19" From that point on deaths in New York's nursing homes exploded.
  2. Just returned from my trusty Smart & Final. The price of all beef products are skyrocketing. Just last week products that were costing $3.00, $4.00, and $5.00 a pound are now priced at $6.00, $8.00 and $10.00 a pound. Steaks are running as high as $14.00 to $16.00 a pound. Smart & Final has had a policy that when the expiration date nears on meat products the price is marked down 30%. That section is now triple the size it was just a week ago and people are still not buying. I assume these products will be thrown out and the market will cut way back on its buying. That will then become a chain reaction. Am also reading of farmers turning under their ripe produce because that can't find people willing to do the harvesting at any price. I expect we will soon see much higher prices for produce. If this becomes a trend and it continues for any period of time things are going to get real dicey.
  3. Daddy has posted, on the Review Site, a great article, that we should all read entitled "How to Safely Buy Groceries in a Pandemic".
  4. I contacted him a couple of years ago. He was using a different name and I believe he lived in Southern California. All I remember is that he was very polite and quick to respond to my inquiry but his fee was more than I was willing to spend. Unfortunately I can't remember what the fee was at the time.
  5. Absolutely NO!!!!! HOWEVER, I'm considering making an exception as soon as this coronavirus nonsense abates.
  6. Bigjoey thanks for the thoughtful suggestions. The problem, for me, is that I want back the life I have spent years developing, building, and loving. Certainly I can change to meet the current circumstances it is just that I DON'T WANT TO.
  7. In the comment I'm about to make I, naturally, speak only for myself and am recommending no course of action. As I have stated numerous times on this forum - I'm old - I'll be 80 in October. I have had a wonderful life. I loved my job, have a wonderful family and wonderful friends. I have traveled all over the world. Now to my point. For me continuing to live like I currently am sequestered, wearing a mask every time I leave the house, unable to visit friends and family, unable to have friends and family visit me and unable to travel IS, FOR ME, A VERY SLOW AGONIZING DEATH. I am simply too old to live this way for an extended period of time.
  8. Damn alrajee you must be a baby I passed your "at least 75" five years ago.
  9. I tried a stapler but you have to be very careful to place the staple just right. Since I'm such a klutz it didn’t work that well for me. Even klutzy me can’t miss with the glue gun.
  10. Hey rvwnsd another solution might be to cut off the existing ear loops, take some kitchen string cut to the correct length for you and attach it to both sides of the mask with the handy glue gun.
  11. My sister and brother-in-law offered to co-sign for me when I bought my first and only condo. As it turned I didn't need them to do so but I was always tremendously grateful for their offer. They were an absolute wonderful pair.
  12. Interesting!!!!!
  13. Some time ago I bought a package of about fifty masks. They are NOT N95's but are the ones I most commonly see other people wearing. The ear string attachments are not very securely attached and as I'm not that gentle with them I have found they frequently come apart. Now like any other big time holiday decorator I have a glue gun, in fact I have three. They work like a charm to reattach the strings attachments. I make a point of re-enforcing all the strings at their connection point before I use them. This works like a charm if any of you are having a similar problem.

Hey Billsboy4 I hit the like button but wanted to post this Thank You as well.
  15. My mother always crushed the old fashioned "soda" crackers and used that for the binder. She never added pork or veal - always just beef. She topped the meat loaf with "streaky" bacon for flavor and added fat. Languages differences have always been a major interest to me, especially the vocabulary differences between English speaking countries. I've always found it interesting that what we U.S. barbarians call bacon the rest of the English speaking world calls streaky bacon. Plus what we call Canadian Bacon the rest of the English speaking world calls bacon.

I asked about this guy in a group of four or five others some time ago. I didn't get a response regarding any of them. Now I would like to know if anyone has had and experience with this specific guy: https://rent.men/JJ_Masseur
  17. Had problems this morning but I must assume that the new format wasn't up and going when I first tried to log on. Everything is great right now and the new format is nice and clean. I do hope the old names used for members based on their number of post is maintained. Right now I'm a BLANK which might be telling me what Daddy really thinks of me ha! ha!
  18. I like, many others here, grew up on meat loaf and I love it to this day. I think my mother was the only person I've ever known who didn't top the meat loaf with ketchup. She always topped it with an undiluted can of “Dawn Fresh by Giorgio Mushroom Steak Sauce”. I still make it that way today. I do, however, put ketchup on it before eating it. Mother always served meat loaf with baked potatoes and string beans cooked with bacon. Don’t ask me why but the one thing I NEVER do is order meat loaf in a restaurant.
  19. I just returned from a shopping trip to my local Albertsons/Vons. What a fucking zoo. They have instituted one way traffic and the stupidity of people never ceases to amaze me. I mentioned to several customers that they were going against the one-way traffic. Their response was invariably a blank look and a huh as they continued on their merry way. The only item I wanted that they didn't have was "Swans Down, Cake Flour". I eventually found it at my old standby Smart & Final. While in the parking lot at Albertsons I finally came to understand why disinfecting wipes are in such short supply. A couple parked in front of me had two overflowing grocery carts. They were both wearing gloves and masks and were meticulously wiping down each of their items with one disinfecting wipe per grocery item. They had a large paper grocery bag overflowing with discarded wipes. I figure it must have taken them well over an hour to wipe down every item in both carts. God only knows how many wipes they used on their crusade. The one thing I have learned is that if I want a specific brand of an item I may have to visit more than one store. The cake flour was a perfect example of this.
  20. I'm scheduled, this fall, to be in Puerto Vallarta from November 7th through the 14th. I'm playing a waiting game and will decide in mid-October whether to cancel my flights and my VRBO. I'm also scheduled for "A Tour Around the Treasure Houses of England" departing September 7, 2021. If things are still closed down then suicide just might become a viable option. At soon to be 80 I do NOT intend to remain cooped up like this the rest of my life (non-life).
  21. My local Bank of America is open for inside service. The problem is that surrounding B of A branches are not open for inside service. My branch has ONE teller operating and thus the line to enter is about a one hour plus wait. I do not have a washer/dryer in my condo but the association has four laundry rooms. To use the machines I need quarters. I'm not about to wait in the bank line for over an hour to get quarters. Smart & Final has come to my rescue again and is giving me rolls of quarters when I request cash back. Hurrah for Smart & Final.
  22. Today being Monday it is my usual grocery run day. I really didn't need more than half a dozen items so I decided to go over to my nearby Smart & Final yesterday. Crowd was very light and they had all of the items I wanted. Some fools, mostly older customers, want to linger in front of certain sections to ponder just exactly what they want to purchase. One old man simply couldn't decide what he wanted. I actually had to turn around, go down the next aisle and enter his aisle from the opposite end. He was absolutely oblivious of his surrounds and the people trying to get around him. Smart & Final has really done an outstanding job setting the store up for social distancing and safe check-out for the checkers and customers alike. Masks are required to enter to store and most customers do not seem to object.
  23. I have always thought that I wanted to live as long as I was healthy and able to live an active life. This current coronavirus nonsense has made me think twice about the previous sentence. I will be 80 in October and have had a wonderful life with a wonderful family and a wonderful group of friends. I worked for 36 years at a job I loved. I have traveled extensively in the U.S. and all over the world. I have loved my life. Now if the future holds a world where I am unable to travel, visit my friends and entertain my friends in my home then just maybe, in my eyes at least, the future may not worth experiencing. The instance things open up a little here in California I MUST update my will/trust and check out the cemetery where I have a plot next to my parents and my deceased sister and brother-in-law. I’m not ready to check out yet but the idea is certainly in the back of my thoughts. Yea I know depressing but these are most definitely depressing times.

I checked the forum regarding this guy and found only one comment and it was negative. The poster claimed he was weird. Anybody else have any experience with him. I am definitely interested: https://rentmen.eu/Godtanon
