Cardinals star Nolan Arenado departed the club’s win over the Giants in the eighth inning today due to discomfort in his left forearm, as noted by MLB.com’s John Denton. Notably, that’s not the same arm that Arenado suffered an elbow contusion on after being struck by a pitch from Marlins right-hander Huascar Brazoban earlier this week. More information was not made available following tonight’s game beyond the fact that Arenado would be evaluated further tomorrow. It’s an unfortunate turn of events in the midst of what has been a difficult season for the 33-year-old veteran, who is slashing just .260/.315/.375 with a 99 wRC+. That would be Arenado’s first below-average offensive performance in a 162-game season since his rookie campaign back in 2013. He’s paired that lackluster offense with surprisingly pedestrian glovework at third base, where he’s been worth +0 Outs Above Average and -5 Defensive Runs Saved. That’s a far cry from the fielding he offered at the position earlier in his career, when he won the NL Gold Glove award at third base in ten consecutive seasons from 2013 to 2022. Center fielder Michael Siani also exited today’s game due to an injury, though Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat relayed after the game that x-rays on Siani’s ribs after he hit the ground hard on a diving play in the outfield came back negative. Every time I see M. Siani in the box score, I read it as Mount Sinai (as in the hospital...)

I had already changed the word end by the time you posted that, and you have to blame Siri for the capitalization situation because I am dictating this on my phone.
-
That would read better if you deleted the word can. The way it's written, the first sentence just reads as an ability that you have, while the second one reads as something that you had seen. If you edit it, the meaning of the first sentence changes and it then reads as something you had done, with the second sentence then verifying that. And yes, I am almost indescribably bored tonight.

None. I could eat, sleep, clean, and watch TV much better than I do. That's all I do in there, and I am currently having trouble with my ROKU, so I can only watch the YouTube channel. -
Tonight, when the Cardinals played the Giants, the cards' excellent rookie shortstop, Masyn, faced off against the Giants' not so terrific starting pitcher, Keaton. i'd say it was a Winn-Winn situation, but Masyn had a walk and a hit in two plate appearances against Keaton.

Noguchi Museum presenting a creative concert series featuring global artists Kids got their cook on in a recent culinary competition, which pitted students from schools across Brooklyn, Queens and Manhattan against each other for a friendly bout that showcased their skills and creativity. Participants from various schools — including P.S. 109, P.S. 308 Clara Cardwell, P.S. 262 Elementary School and M.S. K266 Park Place Community Middle School in Brooklyn — went head-to-head in Global Kids’ Teen Battle Chef program, which culminated in the cooking competition on June 6. The grand finale was held at Careers in Sports High School in the Bronx, and saw young chefs from across the Big Apple prepare four-course meals for a panel of esteemed judges. The standout performance of the competition came from Queens-based Q300 Middle School, which was crowned “Global Kids Master Chef.” The students from Q300 impressed the judges with their innovative dishes and teamwork, earning medals and a trophy to commemorate their achievement. The Teen Battle Chef program is a year-long educational initiative spearheaded by Global Kids, a nonprofit educational organization that works to ensure that youth from underserved areas have the knowledge, skills, experiences and values they need to succeed. The yearly culinary program gives students the opportunity to learn about different cultures, the importance of healthy eating, and essential cooking techniques.

Pizza Hut has abruptly shuttered 15 locations in the Midwest with more than 120 others at risk of closing down after the chain landed in a bitter legal dispute with a franchisee. EYM Group, which owns and operates 142 Pizza Hut locations in Illinois, Indiana, Georgia, South Carolina and Wisconsin, was accused of defaulting on millions of dollars in payments that were allegedly owed to Pizza Hut by a June deadline. Pizza Hut abruptly moved to shutter 15 restaurants in Northwest Indiana on Friday, according to a report in The Times of Northwest Indiana, which cited social media posts by employees. EYM has accused Pizza Hut of failing to modernize its menu as well as its digital ordering system — thus putting it at a disadvantage against the stiff competition in casual dining, including from Little Caesars and Domino’s. EYM Group filed suit against Pizza Hut in March 2023, alleging a breach of contract. Pizza Hut countersued earlier this month, alleging that EYM Group was beset by financial discrepancies and that it failed to make required payments — thus violating the franchise agreement. After several defaults, Pizza Hut entered into a forbearance agreement with the franchisee last year. Pizza Hut’s parent company, Yum Brands, reported last month that same-store sales at Pizza Hut declined by 7% in its most recent quarter. In the US, Pizza Hut same-store sales dropped 6% — a stark decline compared to 7% same-store sales growth during the same period last year. Shares of Yum Brands, whose subsidiaries include Kentucky Fried Chicken and Taco Bell, are up nearly 6% from Jan. 1.
