I agree, it's puzzling. I do try to keep things in perspective that if they are that casual, we are probably not a good match, so it's for the best we didn't connect.
The Atlantic: Daylight Saving Time Is America's Greatest Shame
Not sure about greatest shame (slavery y'all?) but it is a scam. I would prefer we switch to summer timing year around, but I would be ok with winter timing if that's what it took to put an end to the insanity.
I didn't want to use the ignore feature either and it is far from as perfect a solution as the people who advocate for it while not using it seem to make it out to be. I was reducing my involvement in the forum because spending most of my time reviewing threads to avoid came to feel like work.
But at some point it becomes apparent that like so many other aspects of modern life, waiting for someone else to solve a problem for me is no way to spend my time.
I'd say give it a try and see if you don't feel better.
No.
Once time I had started a new job on a team with other mostly new people, including the boss. Soon after, I was talking with him in the office after hours and he said something that made me realize he thought I was straight. I was delighted to pull out the "how dare you assume I'm heterosexual" line and he laughed and said you are so straight. He was genuinely surprised when I said no. I found later from his wife that he thought I was straight and pretty much everyone else was gay. He was half right.
I think of it as a resumé and yes, if it appears the person didn't put any thought into it, I move on to the next one, just like I do with a resumé in any other circumstance. People can take all the time and get all the help they need to improve it.
