Have had the same experience. Some are okay with it and others freak out so I've stopped trying on Grindr. Being born and raised from Oakland this has hit me pretty hard in the chest. My friends and family and I are all waiting with bated breath just hoping that nobody we know is announced as passed on. I was back home ironically this weekend for work and drove by the site and my heart sank.
