  1. I'm currently in Singapore, so this thread is timely. I arrived on Thursday and leave Monday when I fly to see the temples at Siem Reap in Cambodia.

Tristan and I exchanged messages about possible accommodations when we were making our respective plans to come here. I note his concerns about hotels and privacy. I am staying at the Novotel at Clarke's Quay, which is great for a tourist, but would be a disaster for an escort. The reception is on the 7th floor and the rooms are above it to the 25th floor. There's no problem getting up to reception, but you need to cross in front of the reception counter to reach a separate bank of lifts to get up to the rooms. And you need a key card for the lifts.

I checked the utopia.com site for info on the gay scene here. There was nothing there that appealed to me and I am sure Tristan's description is correct. All the bars seem to be close together in China Town.

As far as the cost of things goes, the Australian dollar and the Singapore dollar are worth about the same and things cost about the same in both countries. I am staying in a tourist area and am paying the price. I suspect if you got away from the tourist traps you'd pay less for meals. Last night a radang curry combo (meat curry, vegetable curry, rice and 2 beers) cost S$46.

The weather is hot and humid. I've come from the Australian summer. I don't know how Tristan coped, coming from the northern winter.

  2. Currently I'm reading Kings Rising, the conclusion to a trilogy by CS Pacat. Set in a fantasy world, sort of like Game of Thrones. Lots of intrigue and skulduggery and m/m sex. Love it!

I'm also reading on my kindle Afterglow (upending Tad: A journey of erotic discovery Book 6). Sexy and funny and lots of m/m sex. Love it!

Sitting on my bedside table waiting to be read are A Brief History of Seven Killings by Marlon James (2015 Booker prize winner), The Buried Giant by Kazuo Ishiguro and The New York Nobody Knows by William B Helmreich. The way my interest seems to be going, New York is going to remain a closed book to me.

  3. To the list, I would like to add the Frick in NYC. It is a jewel box: small and intimate with really great art. Usually not crowded. Soon to be enlarged with the second floor opening to the public.

Two hours is about my limit in a museum or art gallery. After that I find myself reading the labels and not looking at the paintings. For that reason the Frick is my favourite. Terrific paintings and building and you can do the lot in under two hours.

  4. NY, I share your shame  I've read the CS Pacat books and look forward to the third coming out in February. I like series and recommend Kora Knight's Upending Tad books (6 volumes), funny, romantic and hot, and KJ Charles A Charm of Magpies series. Not sure how many volumes, but fantasy based. And hot!

I was initially skeptical as these types of books seem to be written mostly by woman, but if they want to write dirty, why not? I just wish my prostate was as magical as the prostates of their characters are!
