  1. We had a Henry's Hamburgers a block from our house. It was a mid-west chain that met it's demise when some franchise units were using horse meat as an ingredient.
  2. I remember those little disks that you stuck in the middle of 45s so you could play them on the turntable of a record player that accommodated albums (33 1/3).
  3. No. Lived on the northwest side. Didn't frequent Woodward. Motown revues were just a bit before my time. I was too young in the early 60's (born in later 50s). I do remember my friend down the street who's older sister used to go to the Grande Ballroom.
  4. In our naked swim class, I remember there were about three guys who some thought to be gay. They were bigger than average. One guy's in particular hung low, and had a nice curve. (not that I really noticed)
  5. Kresge's (in Detroit) had the same counters. Used to get a Coke served in a paper cone in a metal holder, crushed ice, paper straw, and don't know for sure, but maybe made with syrup and soda water.
  6. Airlines would send you a ticket in the mail, and you would then send them a check for the airfare. I remember getting a call from a collection agency long after I took the trip about owing money to a now long ago defunct airline. I said I paid it, and looked at my check register, and even told them the check number, and account number. I was moving at the time, and never heard more. About four/five years later, I was trading in my car, and at the dealership, I was emptying out all my stuff, and there in the glove box, was an envelope to the airline, stamped, and sealed. Oops.
  7. We swam naked in our high school swim class.
  8. Did it often, as late as the early 80's.
  9. Don't know if this was mentioned, but I remember exchanges, then a number. The first phone number I remember we had was a word, then number (VEmont - #####), we moved, and our phone number became BRoadway - #####.
  10. The good point is it's cheaper than a Lexus model that's no doubt based upon it. I have no idea what alpha/numeric name of a Lexus model is, but it reminds me of one of my neighbor's who had a larger Lexus SUV for sale, I think it was a GX something. Sold fast. Don't know what he was asking, but I guess it was about 10 years old. Most likely, it's sold worldwide, so parts will be readily available for years if repairs are needed. It may take a bigger hit in depreciation at first, because it's being discontinued, but that's just near term, especially if you rotate cars often. If you keep cars for a long time, shouldn't be a big factor, and will probably save you money overall. Personally, my deal breakers are seats (because of my back) on a long trip, ease of entry/exit, and visibility. Know your deal breakers, and test drive it long enough to get a feel for that. Happy motoring. (Oh, strictly a personal point of view, but don't get that ugly rack, or basket, or whatever that thing is on the roof.) P.S. Good looking SUV
  11. There are some... -A couple of bucks in the bank. -A home, however small and humble, but in a decent neighborhood, that's paid off. -No more expensive cars, but a newer average car, almost paid off (just two more years, yeah!). -Two modest pensions, and social security, so don't have to get a job. -Medical insurance from my former employer -Yes, a couple of providers didn't warm up to this older, overweight guy, but those that did, WOW!
  12. Not at all nuts. Human. If it's possible, rent the same model for at least a week or more, and see if it's love, or just infatuation.
  13. Reminds me of my college dorm, 4 guys (in 2 rooms) shared a bathroom, and the guy in the other side of the bathroom was similar in size, and not shy about being naked.
  14. Won't know until the day I die.
  15. Part of my childhood, growing up in Detroit, listening, and liking the Motown sound on CKLW (the Canadian radio station south of Detroit), and Keener 13 (WKNR). I'm going to have to walk down memory lane and listen to those early songs. Perhaps not widely acclaimed, but she was one of the very many talented entertainers of that era many of us enjoyed. May she Rest in Peace.
  16. The Audi commercial
  17. My mom’s baking. I regret never learning how she did it.
  18. If Chicago Tourism Office only knew how many guys show off while in the city.
  19. I actually don't know the exact amount, but it was a bit north of seven or eight grand at the Four Seasons in Maui (not counting airfare). Twice.
  20. I gave up on considering a meeting with him. The few responses to communications I had with him were perfunctory at best, and I'm not one to engage in, or initiate any inane chit-chat with a provider.
  21. The most revealing pic of Phil Fusco (is that him?) I’ve seen.
  22. I was only about 53-54 went I went to the car wash, got the full service which was $15.95. Got up to the counter to pay, and he said $12.95. I must have had a really surprised look on my face, because he looked at me and said “senior discount “. Ten years later, nobody asks if I want a senior discount. Must be the haircut.
  23. Younger guy, about late 20s called me ”sir” when he asked me a question. I appreciate his parents taught him to respect his elders.
  24. I, like @azdr0710 have a separate phone. Tracfone, only $100 a year (plus tax). Never have run out of talk, text, and data time because I don’t hire often. If going to meet someone, leave my personal phone at home, or in hotel safe.
