  1. I really do have a Vietnamese BF. I am going through a little medical issue so couldn’t pick dates. Plus he can’t get a visa to come to the US . We live on Bangkok and spend time in Hanoi. Great airport to start your trips. I got about 20 phone calls from friends telling me about the fares. Most of my trips are on Cathay so would have been perfect.
  2. Then there is the other side of the story. I’ll be sitting home alone watching tv all day. It is my choice mostly. I need to travel to get to family or friends, and feeling a little under the weather this year. Rather be more comfortable in my own home.
  3. It was the huge fan base that created the difference. Elvis Duran is a good friend of his. He pushed Bobboy every day on his morning radio show. Telling all his listeners to vote for Bobby. Between Bobby and Elvis radio shows has to be millions of potential votes.
  4. He has arthritis of the knees. Walking and exercise isn’t going to ease the pain. He should be working with Orthopedic and Arthritis specialist and possibly working toward knee replacements.
  5. We see many young gay South Koreans here in Bangkok. They very often are in groups of 4-6 . Always seem to be having a great time in the gay venues.
  6. Ho Chi Minh City is becoming very westernized. Very modern. You would have no problem getting most of the amenities we get in the US. Hanoi on the other hand is just starting to emerge with internet, cellphones and cars. So still very old world charm. When you get out of the tourist areas it will set you back 50 years. We come 3 or 4 times a year for my friend to visit family and friends. I always carry 2 or 3 cloth handkerchiefs to use as my napkins.
  7. Sean I chuckled with your comment of not using napkins. I am in Hanoi now. Even staying in nicer hotels, You sometimes need to search out napkins . My bf is Vietnamese. Many times when he and friends are sitting Around eating they will have one group wash cloth nearby If needed. Vietnamese love to fit around on the floor with large group of family or friends. They love their food and are very good at not wearing it, but for the floor After the meal, that can be a big clean up job.
  8. Depends on plane. Larger planes have restrooms that can accommodate a wheelchair on the inside. Unfortunately the door isn’t big enough. Middle East and some Asian airlines have very large restrooms. Some have showers.
  9. I fly Bangkok to Miami several times a year. I have no problem with it. I take an 8am out of Bangkok getting into Miami about 10pm. Lots of hours but same day. In bed at midnight, up in the morning and business as usual. Ive done it thru Doha a couple times, one stop and gets in a few hours earlier. I usually am in business. Don’t sleep well but do get a couple little naps in. Jet lag has just never been much of an issue for me.
  10. He’s been banished and reappeared on an other site to bide his time.
  11. Your doctor has to have access to social welfare offices. Your insurance company can help set up in home care. In home care doesn’t have to be medical help. Just a helping hand.
  12. There are personal home care givers that can come in and help with hygiene, housework, cook a meal or two. They are extremely helpful with people in your situation.
  13. While I agree with what you say, these Boys lives are going to change big time. They are going to need somebody to help them sort out all that will be thrown at them. Unfortunately The govt is going to have to much control for now. The government is a military dictatorship that has a lot of control over the press. There will be some issues.
  14. Thailand follows the British leagues very closely, so I think their allegiance will fall that way,
  15. My bf is Vietnamese. We live in Bangkok and as you say, chopsticks aren’t used as often as you would think. I have never been able to master them and my friends will sometimes take my silverware away and watch me make a mess of things. When we go to Hanoi, the service people just assume Westerners need forks and make sure you have them.
  16. I’m with BVB here. Though I probably have less conversation. I always get into backseat and say thank you upon leaving.
  17. I live in Asia where wearing your shoes in the House is a capital offense.
  18. A couple of stations topped $2.90 this morning in San Francisco and they were predicting on the news this morning, that they will top $3.00 in the next couple of days.
