They’ve tried - since 1938 lol but DOI, or I suppose more properly, it’s functions are enshrined in the city’s charter. As I said, they’re not well liked or regarded. A more humourless, self important group of basically frustrated/wanna be LE types you’ll never meet.

I’m not disagreeing with this sentiment at all, but there is a large department within the City government that does just that, and more - the Department of Investigation. They’re supposed to be the ones that vet any candidate for appointment or promotion, and they’re staffed by a good combination of law enforcement nepo babies, and frustrated LE types that couldn’t make the cut with the NYPD or FBI or even the DA’s office. They actually encourage snitching on co-workers for anything from “inappropriate behaviour” outside of work, to being in a Su-Zu, to moonlighting, to actual criminal activity. They also try to make city employees act as “undercover” agents by saying never to decline a bribe before talking to them first to set up a sting. They’re not well liked or regarded, and often times, inept at their job.

I think this is all my fault 😬 I shared how viewing the thread title, my mind thought of a porn performer with a similar name, and so some confusion began. Mea culpa one and all!

I don’t even know what some mean smoking - cigarettes, vaps, pot? I thought he listed as not in session? That wouldn’t bother me terribly - but if asked, and he declined kissing, that would be a deal breaker.
