  1. Yeah, any "spa" in manhattan charging under 80 bucks for an hour, they're in all likelihood not licensed therapists.

Maybe I’m misinterpreting what you mean by “spa” in quotes, but if you believe that massages need to be above $80/hour then you’re missing out on a lot of good Chinese-owned places that charge $45-55/hour (maybe the employees aren’t officially licensed, but there are a lot that are well-trained).

  2. Is he? He doesn't seem old enough. I saw him recently, first time. Excellent experience. Tall, white guy with long Hagrid-ish beard, soft spoken, thoughtful massage.

I saw Nick recently (at 27 Men) and it was a shorter Asian guy. Kind of average looking, average body, not particularly muscular. But his actual massage skills were really good. I would repeat for that.

  3. Interesting that they have working dry saunas, although they only allow “one party at a time”. Overall facilities seem to be pretty restricted in terms of how many people are allowed in certain places (which makes sense). Seems like at this point it’s better for someone who wants to go with a partner or small group of friends than to meet someone.

Also it would be better if they had same-gender hours. Most of the Yelp reviews are by women.

  4. The only YMCA in ( Manhattan , Brooklyn and queens ) without dividers is at 63rd west side and Greenpoint.

Dodge is my home gym, been there 1000times , hard to argue with them ,but there are smaller blue dividers between each shower head ...

It’s been about a year since I’ve gone to that location, but it had those dividers when I was there. More like a typical urinal divider so it doesn’t give you total privacy. And the space is kind of small with showers facing each other. If it’s not overly busy it’s possible to be discreet and see when people are coming in/out.

  5. I think the people in the videos know they’re being recorded. Their faces are covered and the lights are bright. I subscribe to the OF but am just reminded of my experience with Jason, which was mediocre. In the videos sometimes he just lightly rubs people without any pressure, which is annoying. And most of the guys seems to try to finish themselves off.

  6. RE: Epic Men — $130 for a 90-minute! Damn... And no photos of the therapists?!

    I wouldn’t pay that much.

It’s to cover the glass of wine you get with your service.?

Do any of the places have real photos of their therapists? I do wish more posted a schedule with at least the names, like 27 Men Spa does.

  7. @capthook - I wouldn't think you elected to have the woman handle your hook. ;)

No, she actually tried to bait and switch me too. Told me he would be there when I made the appointment. It was so annoying cause I rushed to get there but when I showed up it was just her. She tried to get me to stay but I told her I wanted the guy and left.

  8. A few weeks ago I went to a legit massage place where there was some potential with the guy, but when I tried to go a second time they were down to just one woman. She told me there wasn’t enough business so she had to let him go.:( Seems like a lot of places are lighter on staff and need the business...

  9. FYI: At 27-M-S, recently, asked for August and not sure it was him during the appt., but the masseur offered to wear a mask which seemed like it was optional (did not enter the room w/ one on). I didn't see anyone else wear one except for one client in the waiting room.

I saw someone else there recently and also noticed none of them were wearing masks, except the guy I saw (though he only covered his mouth).

  10. Do you wear a mask even when you’re face down? That seems counter productive? It could blow your air back behind you toward the masseur instead of toward the ground? I understand while walking in and laying face up, but not so much while face down.
