  1. Published by New York Daily News Rep. George Santos has a plan to survive — and it’s straight out of the MAGA playbook. Mocked by late night comics and mostly shunned by his own party’s leaders, the controversial Long Island Republican has found a political home in the far-right wing of the GOP. Santos, who admits to lying about much of his background, now says he’s a victim of the liberal media, Deep State prosecutors and so-called Republicans in name only, the same cast of villains that former President Donald Trump and Fox News hosts rail against. “MAGA world is a safe harbor for Santos, perhaps the only one he has left,” … Read More View the full article
  2. The only thing that really changed was that I moved the announcements and feedback forums down below. They are not heavily trafficed and when an announcement is posted, I can use the announcement feature to give it attention. The Ask a Provider forum was renamed as it was never really just escorts answering. The rename brings it more in line with what it is actually serving. Regarding the format… I’m going to try it for awhile and see how it goes. The question and answer feature lets questions get marked with a best answer, ranking of answers, etc. This lets the better answers get “bubbled up top” automatically without potentially reading pages of replies to find the good nuggets.

Paying an extortionist does not work. Reasoning with an extortionist does not work. So nothing you can directly do will prevent him from doing as he threatens if he’s really going to do it. In a majority of the time, it’s an opportunistic moment to try and gain some money with little/no real effort. If that’s the case, the best thing to do is block the person. Don’t engage them and simply move on with your life. If he does out you… he literally gains nothing and has already opened himself to risk around harassment/extortion charges including civil risk if not chased by the government.

  9. A friend of mine was an escort for several years and told me a few stories he's heard: "Yeah, this is my house/car" when it was clearly an AirBnB/rental, etc. "I work in this big important job!" or "I'm a very important _______ in government!" "I've never done this before" In the end... he said it never really mattered. As long he paid, if they wanted that story... so be it. That was just them living a fetish or fantasy.

I work in cyber security where extortion campaigns are very common. "We have you data... give us 10 bitcoin or we're going to release your customer data to the internet" or "If you don't pay us XX, we're going to take down your website". One of the first rules you learn is you don't negotiate or pay extortionists. It will start out as "Give me $200 and I'll go away". A few days later it will be "It's just another $100 and I'll be out of your life." You're going to be milked until there is nothing more to milk. Lookup phone harassment laws for your state (they vary greatly). You don't even have to necessarily report him for extortion. It could end up simply being reported as harassment. If you've blocked him and he continues swapping numbers it's clearly harassment. In terms of him actually exposing you, at that point... he no longer has a card to play. It's game over for him and no money to be made. So it's much less likely to happen. I would just block him and move on with your life.
  11. Published by BANG Showbiz English Lukas Gage’s mom praised his “great a**” when she saw his nude scene in ‘The White Lotus’. The 27-year-old actor has had some raunchy sex scenes in both the HBO vacation satire and the latest season of ‘You’ but the risque material didn’t faze his “cool hippy” mother. Asked how his mom reacted to the scenes, he told Variety: “She says, ‘That’s a great a**. Get that money. Get that bag and be committed.’ “My mom’s cool. She’s like a cool little hippy lady. With nudity, I think we both share sort of a European vibe.” Lukas – who is dating hairstylist Chris Appleton – doesn’t want anyone to feel “scrutinised or like the butt of the joke” with the sex acts he’s depicted on screen. Asked if he’s had any crazy fan mail, he replied: “No. We have a couple people from the golden shower community that are very grateful that it’s being shown on screen, and they have some haters who are yucking some people’s yum. “Everyone should feel heard and feel seen. I never wanted to make anyone feel scrutinised or like the butt of the joke. I just believe that everyone should embrace all their kinks and everything that they love about themselves and not feel ashamed.” Meanwhile, Lukas offered praise to Diplo for his “honesty” after the producer revealed he had received oral sex from a man and was “not not gay”. He said: “I’m sure there are a lot of people who have that same exact experience but maybe don’t have the confidence or the honesty to talk about it like that. “And, you know, there’s going to be people on either side saying that he’s not labelling himself enough. I commend him on his honesty and I don’t think we need to label everything and have it all figured out. Things can be in a grey area and don’t have to be so black and white.” View the full article
  12. Published by Euronews (English) Italy’s LGTBQ+ community is accusing Giorgia Meloni’s right-wing government of trampling on same-sex couples’ parental rights despite the country’s already having some of the weakest in Europe. For activists, the latest example of this came this week when the Senate voted against a European Commission regulation for cross-border recognition of same-sex parents. Italy thus joined the Visegrad group — composed of the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia — in refusing to transpose the regulation. The news has outraged the country’s LGTBQ+ community, which has repeatedly called out Meloni… Read More View the full article

  16. Published by Reuters By Andrew Chung and John Kruzel WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Judges, scholars, lawyers, government officials and current U.S. Supreme Court members paid tribute to the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg on Friday, honoring a liberal stalwart and women’s rights pioneer whose 2020 death opened the door to a transformative rightward shift on the top U.S. judicial body. A rare meeting of the Supreme Court Bar, comprised of attorneys admitted to practice law before the court, featured speeches from people who worked closely with Ginsburg including U.S. Solicitor General Elizabeth Prelogar, who argues cases for President Joe Biden’s administration. “Her life was a quintessentially American story,” Prelogar said. “She was born to a family of immigrants, and grew up with modest means. She faced profound adversity and discrimination. Yet, through her intellect, hard work and force of will, she not only reached the top of her profession, she reshaped it. She broke barriers for those who came after her and she inspired multiple generations.” A similar meeting was held following the 2016 death of conservative Justice Antonin Scalia, a influential figure on the court whose memory looms large among conservatives just as Ginsburg’s does among liberals. The two jurists were close friends who shared an affection for opera. Ginsburg’s death at age 87 after a bout with cancer was an inflection point for the court. It enabled then-President Donald Trump to make a third appointment to the court – Amy Coney Barrett – who was rapidly confirmed by a Senate then controlled by his fellow Republicans. That gave the court a 6-3 conservative majority, further diminishing the power of its liberal bloc and paving the way for rulings like last year’s decision ending the recognition of a constitutional right to abortion. Trump also appointed conservative Justices Neil Gorsuch in 2017 and Brett Kavanaugh in 2018. The conservative majority has shown no hesitation in taking up contentious issues, also including a ruling last year widening gun rights. Based on arguments held since their current term began in October, the conservative justices appear poised in the coming months to end affirmative action policies used by colleges and universities to increase campus racial diversity, further undermine a federal law barring racial discrimination in voting and enable businesses to refuse certain services to LGBT people based on constitutional free-speech rights. Barrett was confirmed by Senate Republicans a week before the 2020 presidential election. Democrats accused them of hypocrisy after Republicans refused to act on Democratic President Barack Obama’s nomination of Merrick Garland to succeed Scalia during a presidential election year in 2016. Garland, a former federal appeals court judge who now serves as U.S. attorney general, was due to speak at a special sitting of the court following the bar meeting. Chief Justice John Roberts is also set to speak. Ginsburg rose from a working class upbringing in New York City’s borough of Brooklyn and prevailed over systemic sexism in the legal ranks to become one of America’s best-known jurists. Appointed to the Supreme Court by Democratic President Bill Clinton in 1993, she provided key votes in landmark rulings securing equal rights for women, expanding gay rights and safeguarding abortion rights. Ginsburg was the second woman ever named to the court, after Justice Sandra Day O’Connor. The court now for the first time has four female justices including Barrett and the three liberal justices, Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan and Ketanji Brown Jackson, the latter being Biden’s sole appointee. 18. Published by BANG Showbiz English Bono was too “macho” to admit to being an ABBA fan. The U2 frontman admitted he never wanted to “own up” to enjoying the Scandinavian quartet’s pop hits when he was a teenager “in the middle of punk rock” but he and bandmate The Edge professed to a love of various chart stars who are not “very hip” because they can appreciate their art for what it is. Explaining why they chose to cover ABBA’s ‘SOS’ in BBC Radio 2’s ‘Piano Room’, which was broadcast on Thursday (16.03.23), The Edge told DJ Gary Davies: “We’re big fans of this Scandinavian band, appreciators of their work in a way that grew over years. We are fans of the Bee Gees which people wouldn’t have imagined. We’re fans of lots of great songwriters who aren’t necessarily seen as very hip, and I guess we’re just appreciators of their work.” Bono added: “I was saying to one of the cellists today that I didn’t have the courage to own up to this next band when I was 16 in the middle of punk rock, but I did get to the Bee Gees and I was ready to own up to ‘Massachusetts’ and ‘Tragedy’, I mean these are just crazy good. “John Lennon owned up to loving the Bee Gees. But there’s a bit of a macho, ‘I don’t want to own up to ABBA.’ But I’ll tell you what, they’re just better songs. You can’t be empirical about everything in art.” The ‘One’ singer recalled the “phenomenon” of how ABBA were so beloved by “young mothers”. He said: “There is something about ABBA. I can remember ABBA as like the national anthem for young mothers. Certainly at closing time at our local pub, often young women would sing ‘Thank You For The Music’, and I would sing it and I was very thankful for the music! “But I was like, what is this phenomenon? This is before their musicals and all that. What is going on with ABBA?” Listen back to Bono and The Edge in BBC Radio 2’s Piano Room on BBC Sounds and BBC iPlayer. View the full article

  22. Published by Reuters By Kanishka Singh WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Human Rights Campaign, the largest LGBTQ advocacy group in the United States, and its Black former president, Alphonso David, have settled a lawsuit in which David had alleged racial discrimination in his firing, the two sides said on Wednesday. David was fired in September 2021 after New York state Attorney General Letitia James issued a report saying he had advised former Governor Andrew Cuomo about dealing with sexual harassment allegations, the organization’s board said at the time. David was identified in the report as having been involved in efforts to undermine Cuomo’s first accuser, Lindsey Boylan. David, who said in his lawsuit that he was the group’s first Black president, had held the post for two years. The Washington-based nonprofit group advocates for equal rights for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer people (LGBTQ). The lawsuit alleged racial discrimination in David’s firing. The advocacy group denied that and said David was fired for violating the organization’s conflict of interest policy by assisting Cuomo’s team. The terms of the settlement were confidential, the two sides said in a joint statement on Wednesday, adding they chose to “amicably resolve” the lawsuit. Human Rights Campaign named a new president, Kelley Robinson, in September. Robinson is the first Black woman to hold the post. Cuomo, 63, stepped down as governor in 2021 after a state investigation concluded he sexually harassed women who worked for him. Cuomo denied wrongdoing. According to David’s LinkedIn profile, he was president of Human Right Campaign for over two years. He had spent over eight years prior to that working for Cuomo’s office – first as counsel for civil rights and then as chief counsel. He is currently the president and chief executive officer of the Global Black Economic Forum. (Reporting by Kanishka Singh in Washington; Editing by Lisa Shumaker) View the full article
