  1. I only saw Grigolo perform once, but it was a bell canto opera (Lucretia Borgia) at the Kennedy Center in 2008 with Renee Fleming. Impressive!
  2. I believe you are writing about a subsequent Carol Channing appearance where she was much less vibrant and did appear confused, perhaps the Kander and Ebb Tribute. The concert was held in a less than ideal theater.
  3. In the Met's War and Peace the snow looks so real that a French soldier fell off the stage a few years ago. The snow yesterday in the Puccini opera was almost as convincing.
  4. There are many other excellent choices in life other than just an advanced career lived mostly alone.
  5. In my 20s, I shared a house with two other guys in an old Philadelphia neighborhood. We had our own stereos. On a Saturday night, the next door neighbor called the police complaining that we moved a stereo depending on the room he was in at the moment! The police knocked on our door, and saw the three stereos, and just laughed out loud at the neighbor's complaint.
  6. The real pieta was displayed at the 1964-1965 New York World Fair. I did not see it again in Rome. Due respect, Avalon, the actual pieta is stunning, the fake is not
  7. I enjoyed seeing the opera at the Met yesterday, especially Act Two and Act Three. Westbrook was wonderful. The intermissions we're unusually long for a Saturday broadcast, I agreed with the people sitting near me that the opera is under rated. There were mixed opinions about Kaufmann's singing. I agree. Sorry that Eva-MarieWestbroek. Auto spell check.
  8. How about interesting places to see in Mexico? I live on the east coast, but have only been to Mexico once - but for three weeks driving. Still, I must have missed a lot.
  9. All the more reason, challenge yourself to at least leave your apartment and try to lead a slightly more active life. That would be a significant and valuable accomplish. Try, please, Avalon!
  10. I hope you are kidding about augur and peripatetic. The words Beau and courting are not used much now, or 50 years sgo.
  11. Ethel Zimmermann changed her name to Ethel Merman because it would take fewer lights outside the theater. Ethel was more well known than Mr. Benson. So we are even now.
  12. I agree. Greenbriar is quite expensive!!

    No socks

Interesting that audience was all male, given that Desilu approved the TV show and also produced it.
  14. Thanks for that!!!
  15. No window. But, I do have a terrace with glass doors, so that counts, I guess.
