  2. Agree with @saminseattle about The Line of Beauty, which is also about politics. I read the book twice.

  6. It's not a particularly good wikipedia page. Even so, your only comment is his first name? Avalon, he was born in the 1930s in an Italian family.
  7. Thanks, OneFinger. How anyone could think it would ever go away is way beyond belief. You posted just as I was almost ready to give up.
  8. Read @Kenny's post again later. I left and read it again just now before understanding.

  10. @sniper, please do a google search for Mr. Talese. He said "women writers don't like to hang around under-educated, seedier types" in 2016. Talese's wife told him about the controversy on Twitter because he does not use Twitter.
  11. Also from the Vanity Fair article: “I feel so sad, and I hate that actor that ruined this guy’s career,” continued Talese, who possibly had not kept up with the growing scope of the accusations online. @sniper, There is absolutely no shame in servicing only in the U.S. during the Korean war. But, if Talese had serviced in Korea it would be the most delayed case of post-traumatic stress disorder in history. Blaming his comments on a possible case of dementia is unfair to Talese who takes pride in being controversial.
