In FTL, those on city pick up get "bulk trash days". A great chance for people to discard large items that otherwise would have been difficult to get rid of. There are limitations of course, but a great program. In those areas without that service, if anything is discarded illegally, the city is quick to respond, and will usually remove unsightly dumpings within a week.

Two years ago my sister bought a new Mercedes S class sedan. Big money but has all the bells and whistles, including warning alarms when you come too close to an object. A few weeks in, I dropped by the house, and noticed that the entire front of the car was badly scrapped with one of the DLR lights ripped from their mounting. She came out and saw me starring at the car. Me: "What the Hell happened?" Her: "I hit a chain link fence when I was turning around." Me: "Doesn't the car have a warning system to let you know when you're too close to objects?" Her: "Well yes" Me: ( Beginning to chuckle)"So once again, what the Hell happened?" Her: (Walking away) "I don't know?" Yes purely anecdotal...and hardly supports my point, but still....
