Would have liked it much better if Billy Eichner hadn't cast himself in it. Found him (his character) so annoying that I never bought into the fantasy of McFarlane falling for him. I would have dumped him almost immediately and I look nothing like Luke McFarlane.

Definitely Ordinary People comes to mind as well as The Eye Of The Needle where he's such a great villain and Don't Look Now for the best edited sex scene on film and its consistent super creepy atmosphere. Of course I haven't seen these films in decades so I'm not sure how they fare today.

Enjoyed the choreography and music. But the dancers "lip syncing" or miming words drove me nuts as did the silly looking wings. Personally, I would have enjoyed far more as a full length ballet rather than trying to pass it off as a musical (which it really isn't).

So I took one for the team (I'm referring to the NYC version) and although I wouldn't say "my session with Dane with filled with grace"🤓 it certainly was an excellent session. I think that to make a Mame revival successful you need a mega movie star (Broadway stars simply wouldn't be enough to bring a wide audience in) someone like Meryl Streep? and then you need a gimmick to give it the face lift it needs - Charles Bush or Ru Paul for Vera Charles?

Beautiful, intimate, touching film about coming of age/coming to terms like only the French know how to do. On Prime Video, omly 99c to rent. How come Europeans tend to make films like that so much better than us? They know how to be touching and even sentimental without being cheesy. Highly recommend!
