    One less fun but important thing to remember: Skin cancer can be very disfiguring. If you are fair skinned or have a family history of skin cancer or both, use effective sunscreens and a hat with a 3 inch brim at least. Get annual skin exams, but also know what to look for yourself. If a “pimple” doesn’t resolve within months, have it checked out. The earlier you catch it, the better you’ll look.

    Of the topicals, retinoids tend to be the most effective. They increase sun sensitivity though.
