  1. I've also seen it spelled "Lawn Guyland"
  2. I met Apollo Phoenix back in the days that he was with Maximum Escorts. Giovanni Volta is back escorting, now Apollo Phoenix. Who's next ... Zeb Atlas?
  3. I recently learned this interesting fact - the Met Christmas tree has to be artificial. A real tree in the museum poses the threat of insects leaving the tree and damaging the works of art
  4. Genius!! aha ha
  5. I met him about 15 years ago. He was very pleasant and I enjoyed meeting him. My impression was he was straight but willing to work with gay clients. Am I wrong about that?
  6. You were luckier than I was. I had a time set up with him .. and he never showed up. I never met the guy and I have no interest in knowing him
  7. I heard Dame Joan sing this aria in a recital, with her husband at the piano. Yes, the final note was so refulgent and beautiful, and it just floated throughout the theater. During the cadenza that preceded it she did one of her signature long trills, with the two notes bouncing back and forth in a way that no other soprano has matched.
  8. I ask my escorts, in the heat of passion, to say "I love you", "I adore you", "I belong to you", "I'm yours", etc
  9. I agree. Why buy a bond with a lower interest rate than a CD?
  10. I like that idea. I'll give it a try
  11. 3 years ago I sold an apartment when the Dow was 10,000 points lower than it is today. All the financial experts were shouting "there's a recession around the corner" so I've been waiting for 3 years to put that cash in the market at low prices during the recession. Now I'm regretting not going into the market 3 years ago when the Dow was at 34,000
  12. The trailer held my interest and I'd see the film. I wonder if the film touches the question of whether or not she was impregnated by A. Onassis.
  13. I discovered Tony Dinozzo's videos by chance last year. The guy has a hot body. The problem is the videos are produced cheaply - they are one-camera productions. On top of that, the camera is set in place, not giving the viewers different angles of the action. I tend to lose interest after a few minutes. I wonder why he didn't go to a major studio that makes high-quality videos.
  14. One of my CDs matured today and, looking at rates today, I've already noticed a decrease. I have my ladder of 3-month t-bills and CDs ($ from the sale of my apartment 2 years ago) and I'm waiting for the recession to hit to put that money in the market at the low prices. The recession has been 'just around the corner' for 2+ years! Any advice from you guys is much appreciated
  15. I saw E. Gruberova in La Traviata and she sang the best Act I of that opera that I have ever heard. I was supposed to hear her sing a concert performance of Norma in Vienna and she cancelled. I believe it was Maria Pia Piscitelli who sang the performance, which was quite fine
  16. I would have volunteered to be his cell mate
  17. I have a ladder of t-bills with no local taxes ... I love it!
  18. The great Warren Buffett has recently recommended 2 ETFs - VOO and SPY. Coming from Warren Buffett, that means a lot Warren Buffett Really Likes 1 ETF. Here's an ETF That's Just as Good and Could Help You Retire as a Millionaire. FINANCE.YAHOO.COM Both of these exchange-traded funds are great picks for long-term investors.
  19. For several years I've had a subscription to the AAII Journal. It is published monthly and provides great charts on the best-performing ETFs and Mutual Funds
  20. I go to the opera to hear great singing and the fact is large voices are often housed in large bodies. When an opera singer is attractive, like Franco Corelli or Anna Moffo, it is a plus but I'd happily hear Luciano Pavarotti in La Boheme even though he doesn't look like a starving young bohemian.
  21. I saw John Adam's "Nixon in China" and I enjoyed it; I know nothing about El Nino. I would have to define myself as (mostly) an old fuddy-duddy since my preference is bel canto rarities.
  22. And which of them was your favorite? I've hired 3 from your list and AJ Irons was the best of them
  23. I wouldn't say that ignorance and stupidity run rampant. Priorities have (sadly) changed and people no longer seek the beautiful things in life, like art and good music. Civilization will be doomed when the middle class stops putting an emphasis on academic excellence, which has not yet happened. In the mid-20th century, when classical music venues regularly had sold-out performances, a smaller percentage of the audience had attended university. College graduates are a dime a dozen today, but they never attended music history classes
  24. I've sat through Berg's "Lulu" 3 times and I'll will never go again. My policy is this - if I hear a work 3 times and I still sleep through more than 50% of the performance I have tried my best. For the same reason I'll never go again to Berlioz's "les Troyens" or Mozart's "Idomeneo", though "Don Giovanni" is one of my all-time favorites.
  25. That's a great line! Aha ha ha
