Since there's been some "meh" comments on M&J Men's Spa this is the frequent reminder that YMMV -- i've been a few times and saw Jimmy or James (two different people) and both gave better massages than some other places i've been to in the past six months (That said it's true that the building is odd in terms of getting in after 6 pm -- the lobby locks)

purchased a 60-minute massage off groupon and made an appointment with jimmy: massage was mediocre, extras were basic, can't recommend.
decent space, but had some trouble getting into the building (lobby doors locked and no buzzer, had to wait for people exiting the building to open the door).
interestingly, another guy working there is someone i used to see pretty regularly at a different spa several years ago. i'd lost track of him, so i'll probably go back to see him.

Anyone have any experiences they are willing to share on either Cody or Oliver? Thanks in advance! Also: the last post may have worked as an update gallery seems to have gone out.

Not sure if Ben is monitoring this page anymore, but I'm hoping we might get an updated email soon with some pics of the new guys.  Also, is Max still working?  He's been off the schedule for a few weeks, and last time I had tried to see him, they told me that they weren't sure if he was going to show that day and to ask for someone else.

Since it was early in the day and I was in the Union Square area with my neck and shoulders bothering me, I decided to try East Men for the first time. It seemed that Matthew, the manager, was the only one present.  I asked for and hour massage, which he agreed to.
Although the facility was like others have previously described, (thin walls where you can hear everything going on both inside, outside, above, and next door) there weren't too many sounds that took away from the overall experience. Plus, they had music playing which masked the sounds to an extent. The first massage room, near the reception desk,  was narrow with a sliding door and became fairly dark when the door was closed.
Matthew gave me good massage combining therapeutic and very sensual elements. We went the full hour (55 minutes of massage with 5 minutes to clean up). He didn't rush at all and although we didn't talk to each other too much, he did check in to see how it felt.
What impressed me most was that he also did  a combination of aromatherapy with  acupressure techniques on my sinuses, head and neck which felt amazing. (He asked before doing it and I forgot what he called it).
I would consider returning at a later time in the day to try out some of the other guys but this experience was a solid A-/B+

I have only seen Jimmy who I think runs the place.  I don't know any of the other therapists, but I enjoyed him.

I can recommend Troy at East Men.  60 minute session that started good and kept getting better - and no discussion of tipping.

So I guess I took one for the team and went to M&J today after buying the three 90 minute sessions for $65 on Groupon.
After purchasing, I called and made my appointment. About 15 minutes before I arrived, I received a text from them asking to if I could arrive 15 minutes later as they were running behind. It wasn't a big deal for me, so I said yes.
The spa is in a typical Manhattan small office building on the 6th floor. Only one of the three elevators was working so there were a lot of people waiting.
Upon arrival, it was nicely furnished and clean. One of the owners, Jimmy, immediately took me to the room. It was clean and decent but didn't look as nice as HK or 27's room.
Before we started, I told Jimmy that I needed to cut the time down to an hour which he was happy to do.
The massage was very therapeutic and Jimmy definitely gave me a great massage with some sensual elements. It ended in the usual fashion and that was pretty good too. (No extras were discussed).
Jimmy is Asian and in his 40s/50s and he obviously has been trained in providing different types of massage techniques (Swedish, some shiatsu too). He was very friendly as well and apologized for running late. I did see another Asian guy in his 20s in the waiting room when I was leaving and Jimmy said that usually there's always someone on staff ready for walk-ins but today he was short staffed.
It was a different experience from what I'm used to at HK & 27. I would consider going back because I bought the 3, 90 minutes body work package but only if a) I was in the area or b) if 27 or HK couldn't accommodate my schedule.
They also have a loyalty program where if you have 5 1 hour massage you get a free 30 minutes one on your next visit.
    Hope this helps!

It's true.  I saw him on a Monday.  If you are looking for something specific, Peter's a good option.  But other therapists there provide a better actual massage in my experience.

Recently visited NYC for a bit and went to a handful of different spas and tried different masseurs and wanted to share my experiences with folks. Want to note I had extras and left happy after each encounter, but quality of the experience significantly varied.

    27 Men Spa

Overall, I think this was my favorite place. It’s a very clean space that has the right ambiance. It feels the most relaxing out of the three that I’ve been to in nyc.

Max: massage was decent, and extras were nice. Didn’t ask for more tip, which made me inclined to tip him well at the end (I did 60% tip). Definitely more on the sensual side of massages, but didn’t rush into it which I appreciated. Red Bull can.

Sebastian: gave a really strong massage and incorporated good sensual elements all throughout. Favorite extra out of all the masseurs I’ve tried from nyc spas, and he was kind about it. Didn’t ask for more tips, but at the end he used a translator to say that he hoped for a generous tip (80% tip).

    Chelsea Men’s Spa

I’m quite disappointed in the service I’ve gotten here. I don’t think it’s worth the money and the massages were more like light touches than actual massages. Table shower facilities were clean, and the massage rooms were clean, but preferred 27 Men’s Spa’s facilities much more.

Kevin: Did the table shower and massage and 2 mins into the table shower he immediately started doing some sensual elements, which I prefer a build-up rather than going straight into it. Scrubbed my back and then I flipped over and he used regular soap. Asked me to stand up and proceeded with some sensual elements. Went back to the massage room and proceeded with a mild massage. He spent the last 10 mins just smacking my foot repetitively which was odd. Wasn’t a fan to be honest, also was rather aggressive about asking for tips (asked for 120% tip for extras). Not my favorite.

Daniel: better than Kevin and also had a similar flow with the table shower and massage, but had a much lighter massage. It felt like he was just floating with his fingers and also just seem so disinvested. Was a very cold experience, not a fan either.

    HUSH

Facilities were the worst compared to the other two. Dark, grungy, and you can hear the staff talking through the walls which made it difficult to fully be immersed. They also used a YouTube video with ads for the background music, which was distracting to have the masseur skip ads every time the video finished. Walls were also quite thin so I was able to hear Kpop from the next-door neighbors.

Omar: kind and polite, and was the only masseur to ask me where my problem areas were. Massage was good, and added some sensual elements towards the end. Politely asked if I was interested in extras without asking for more tips, which I appreciated.

Feel free to DM me for more details if folks are interested, happy to share, or if folks want to exchange stories too I'm happy to do so

I was able to request a masseur.  The guy was aggressive and beat me up, but in the best way possible and I felt like I had really been adjusted.  Was sore the next day.  Again, strictly legit.
