He's posting in my area for travels to my city for a few days in June. Anyone have anything to say on him ?

This weekend my friend and I tried a new Mexican restaurant not far from my neighborhood. I've been wanting to try it since it opened back in January. The young lady who served us was fine, though she didn't know much about the food on the menu when asked as she was taking our orders (and the menu was not extensive). She was pleasant enough, though. We didn't order drinks from the bar, we just drank water (neither of us drink alcohol). The food was fine, but pricey compared to other Mexican restaurants in the area. We figured we'd maybe return in the future but not 'rush back'. When we got our bill at the end of the meal, this was at the bottom of the check which was added to our total (by the way, we paid cash not credit card): Kitchen gratuity: 4% Bar gratuity: 4% City Recycling Fee: 3% Credit Card Fee: 4% So an additional 15% was added to our bill. Kitchen gratuity? Since when are the cooks (who, by law, must be making at least the minimum wage, so they are NOT working off tips like servers are) getting gratuities ? Bar gratuity ? We ordered nothing from the bar, so why are we being charged a gratuity for the bartender ? City recycling fee? Why are we being charged extra for the business to dispose of their recyclables ? Those are standard utility fees which should have been added into every meal before the restaurant opened. Why not just charge us separately for 'electrical fee', 'water fee' and 'internet fee' on the bill, too ? Credit Card Fee? We're paying cash. Why are we automatically being charged a CC fee ? NO WAY were we about to add another 20% tip to our bill after already being charged an additional 15% in nonsense. We called the server over and asked her to remove the fees since none of them applied to us. She giggled, and said 'the manager' would have to do it, and she wasn't there 'at this moment'. (Keep in mind, NONE of these 'additional fees' are posted anywhere in the restaurant nor on the menu before we ordered - we would've walked out). So we ended up leaving her 5% - and explained to her that once the manager returned and took off the extra 15% in 'gratuities and fees' we were erroneously charged, she will give it to the server and she will have her full 20% from us. She looked a little confused, but I'm not going to leave an extra 35% on top of what was owed for the expensive meals. Later, I was curious to read some of the reviews on Yelp and other sites (I never read them before I try a new place - I want to go with an open mind). EVERYONE complained about the 'extra fees and gratuities' added to the bill (most did what I did, which surprised me) and warned others of this 'extortion'. They also said if you speak to the manager (the owner's daughter) she does nothing about it.

Has anybody been following this pizza guy on social media ? He's from Long Island, very sexy, a little on the 'socially awkward' side, has a big social media following. However, taking advantage of his gay following, he launched an OF a few months ago but the criticism has been it's very expensive $20/m and just shirtless pics. Another subscriber said he charged him $50 extra for 'explicit pictures' which were him in boxer shorts with 'slight shaft' showing - the same photos he shared on IG. Hmmmm. When the subscriber said he was disappointed, Mikey responded he'd share more explicit for another $70, but wouldn't confirm if they'd be full frontal. Another subscriber said he wanted to charge him $45 extra for an ass pic (he didn't pay). Sounds like he's not being too kind or generous to his gay following. Anything to share here on Mikey ? I finally met Sensualista the other night (I posted about my experience under Spa). At the end of the appointment, I had to ask him the question - why does he post as 'light hairy' when he's obviously 'smooth' ? He pulled me close to his chest, and said he hadn't 'shaved' that day. 'See that hair growing there ?' he asked. Honestly, I couldn't. Maybe a couple of hairs at the most, but no way 'light hairy'. He raised his arms to show me under his arms, as he hadn't shaved - again, nothing visible. 'You really can't see those hairs?' Nope. Nada. He seemed a little disappointed.

In 2025, this is what servers are expecting.

He was in my state (RI) as his 'homebase' over the winter, and gave my zipcode on Masseur Finder for his location. Curious as to where he was in my area (but no intention of booking him), I texted him to ask about his services and where he was located. He texted back his address - turns out he was renting out a basement apartment around the block from me. Yikes ! I responded back that I would consider his offer next time I needed a massage. (When I asked about a HE, he responded 'all my guys leave happy'). I never called nor did I ever hear back from him. I did spot him a few times outside his house when I was walking my dog around the block, and I was across the street from him. He's a nice looking guy and from what I could tell, he had a nice body. I avoided any eye contact with him - I don't engage with crazy. By March, he was gone.

25% tariffs on foreign cars & auto parts now in effect
Ali Gator replied to Ali Gator's topic in Personal Finance & Investing
For the past month of April, every car dealer in my area has been running non-stop commercials all day / night for their "Pre-Tariff Sale!" Who would think 'pre-tariff' would be an 'event' at a dealership ? Usually in April they're advertising to college grads who will need a car. Screw them! Now it's "Pre-Tariff Sale" at your local Toyota / Honda / Kia / Subaru / VW etc. dealer ! -
If you haven't bought a new car yet, and have been just 'thinking about' it, it may have cost you. New car buyers most likely will be paying a 'few thousand' to 'fifteen thousand' dollars added to the price starting this weekend, as dealers are now starting to re-stock their inventory and have been hit by the new tariffs at the docks. This is according to Michael Wayland, a global automotive reporter. He reports the current 'average' cost for a new imported vehicle is $47,500. Wayland says though the tariffs on imported cars have been in effect for the past few weeks, we haven't seen this added to prices because dealers had been selling their current inventory, bought pre-tariff. However, dealers across the country say their inventory has been depleted and the 'new inventory' came onto their lots this week, with tariff prices added on. Auto parts are also arriving at automotive centers as they restock their inventories, and the tariffs are being added on, so you will have to pay much more to repair your older cars. Warren cautions in addition to new cars and auto parts, drivers will see their insurance prices skyrocket with renewals in the coming months, due to the increase in auto parts to repair cars.

This sheds a new light on things... I finally met up with a new traveler I've had my eye on since last summer. Our schedules never seemed to mesh because he'd post here as 'home' then be gone in 24 hours. Finally met the other night. I asked him about how he changes travel plans so quickly and last minute. Turns out he's doing this as a 'side gig' and has a regular job on the east coast in finance. He travels a lot for his job - working in different locations in the company as he's needed. He does massage /escort on 'nights' and 'free time during the day' in the cities he's visiting. His company will send him to a city (say, 'Dallas') and tell him his assignment is for the next five days - so they book his hotel for those five days (say Mon-Fri). He puts his ad up in Dallas as 'home', and will book just a day in advance, because on Tuesday morning they may call him and tell him they need him in Atlanta on Wednesday, so they're flying him there on Tuesday night. So what was originally a five-day stay in Dallas, turns out to be 24 hours instead (which happened in my city a few times). Sometimes, they will extend his stay as well - and in the extended stay, he may only work in the morning and head back to his hotel in the afternoon - so he can book appointments in that afternoon (or book in the morning and work in the office in the afternoon). He's young (late 20s) and enjoys doing this (so he says) as he sees all parts of the country (mostly east of the Mississippi). So in a sense, his company has control over our appointments with him.

Ok guys, I took one for the team. I met with him earlier this week. Nice enough guy, but probably won't repeat. It was easy texting and setting up the appointment with him. He asked me to let him know when I was about 30 minutes away from his location, which I did. When I reached the hotel (on time) he asked me to wait a few minutes in the lobby as he was 'getting into the shower'. Hmmm - I made the appointment 24 hours prior, and let him know when I was 30 minutes away - he didn't have time to shower until I showed up in the parking lot ? He could've made it really sexy by inviting me up and letting me 'watch him shower' or join him if I opted to do either. (I would've given him a nice tip for that). It gets better - he texts me his room # five minutes later, so I go up to his floor and find his room. I knock on the door (it had the 'do not disturb' sign hanging on it) and some handsome, tall, blond guy answers - wrapped in a towel, the door slightly open. I ask for 'Shawn' and I'm told I have the wrong room (I would've taken this guy in a heartbeat'). I'm confused because I'm reading my text he sent me, and I'm asking the guy if I got the right room #. and he looked a little scared and said, 'You got the wrong room'. In the meantime, I hear someone in the distance yelling, "Hey - over here ! I'm in here! " and I'm thinking 'Sensualista' is being held against his will in this guy's room. It was a very confusing few minutes. I look over my shoulder, directly across the hall, and there's Sensualista, also with the door ajar and wrapped in a towel. I look back and forth and see these two incredibly sexy guys looking at each other nude, wrapped in towels. I thought I walked onto the set of a gay movie and I was going to have a trio. No such luck. I apologized to the blond guy (who was still in his doorway watching us) and follow 'Shawn' into his room, where we did have a laugh and he apologized for the mix-up. He's a very cute guy, nice body (though his arms at as muscular as they appear to be in the photos, nor his chest) and pleasant personality. Don't know if I can go into detail here, so I will skip the details for now (if I'm told I can post details about the experience I will). Overall just an average massage, but the eroticism was great. Maybe next time I might book him for a 'full service' appointment, but I will probably pass on another massage.

The 2025 Tony Nominations have been announced
Ali Gator replied to Ali Gator's topic in Live Theater & Broadway
Some of the competitive highlights this season will be: Which musical revival grabs the Tony for 'Best Revival' - 'Sunset Blvd' or 'Gypsy'. Which actress will grab 'Best Actress' in a musical - Audra or Nicole ? SB got seven nominations in total, while Gypsy got 5. Since debuting on Broadway, Nicole has gotten nothing but praise for her performance in SB, from critics and fans alike. On the other hand Audra has gotten mostly praise from critics, while mixed reviews from fans. It will be interesting to see who takes the Tony home. -

Streisand teases 'major announcement' for this Wednesday
Ali Gator replied to Ali Gator's topic in The Lounge
This made the ABC Nightly News on Wednesday - David Muir reported on this announcement at the end of the April 30 broadcast. As a long-time Streisand fan (since I turned 14 in 1977) I must say, I'm just not interested in this album. I'm duetted out by her at this point. Will I purchase it ? Maybe in the future - not the day it's released like I used to. -
As social media fans wished Barbra Streisand a 'Happy 83rd Birthday' last Thursday, Streisand responded with a heartfelt thank you, and told fans to 'stay tuned on April 30' for a 'major announcement'. Most fans are expecting a 'release date' for her new album she's been recording with a plethora of duet partners.

My therapeutic masseur asked if I had any "special requests"
Ali Gator replied to mhsmhsmhs's topic in Questions About Hiring
I think the fact that you found him on MF will tell you he's more therapeutic. RentMass is another story. -
Bumping this again. He's now in Boston. He joined in July, 2023 and has one good review for massage at the end of 2023. Nothing else. Has anyone tried him ? I'm expecting him to come to Providence after this visit to Boston. Last time he was here in January, he quoted me $200 for erotic massage and $300 'for more'. Anyone have any reviews to share ?

About three years ago, my PCP installed a new device for patients to insert out credit card to pay our co-pay (my co-pay is $20). Before that, I would hand it to the receptionist when checking in, and she would run the card through on her end. Since COVID, they installed a 'glass petition' between receptionist and patient, and eventually made other changes to have 'no contact' with each other - this was the latest change. About a month ago I went for my visit, and the receptionist prompts me to insert my credit card for the $20 copay. Once I do, another screen comes up and says 'Gratuity ?' and it gives me these choices: 15%, 20% , 25% or 'custom'. I press the button below 'custom' and enter '0'. I'm not new at this. Now when I first encountered this in early 2022, when it was first installed, I questioned the receptionist - who does the tip go to ? The receptionist (for checking to see if my contact info and insurance is up to date) or the doctor - whom I haven't seen yet and can't tip on service I haven't had ? She laughed and said that the 'IT specialist' hadn't gotten around to re-programming the device since it was installed a few weeks prior, so she apologized. Fine. Here it is three years later, and the IT specialist still hasn't gotten around to deleting this prompt ??? OR, are they happy that some patients are falling for this and tipping the receptionist ? There is no doubt in my mind that patients are too embarrassed to ask about this (thinking this is the 'new normal') and pressing one of the tip amounts.

The original guy who posted in my city for Easter weekend (and then ghosted) posted yesterday and said he'd be in town through Monday. I checked today, and he's already gone. WTF ?

Though I was in the food industry in my much younger days (high school and college) and for a brief stint helping a friend 'hosting' in her restaurant she managed while I was 'between' jobs in 2012-13, I have no ties to it any longer. However, around 2013, I joined a FB group focused on restaurant servers and their daily trials and tribulations of being a server. What I have gathered over the years is this: Every single server in every single restaurant is the best server in the world. IF the customer has had a bad experience in the restaurant, it's either the cook's fault, the manager's fault, other customer's fault, or (99% of the time) YOUR fault. It's never, ever the server's fault (they accept no blame at all for your bad experience), yet most customers don't tip them 25% or more. (They have to settle for 18-20% instead, which they find insulting). Yes, 25% or more is now the standard, according to servers. And for really exceptional service (which they all believe they deliver to every customer during every shift they work) 30 - 35% should be tipped. And this goes for 'take-out' service, too ! The server who grabs the pizza from the pass-through to the counter in front of you ? Yup, 25% minimum for all they've done. I must say, it's an entertaining, yet educational, experience being on this page and seeing how the service industry sees the customers.

How the business works and the actual service provided are not necessarily exclusive of each other in any job one has in the service industry. 'The business' is dependent on 'the services provided' ; otherwise the provider will soon be out of business. It's that simple.
