I watched this Stephen King movie tonight. It wasn't scary.

The original novella by Stephen King is much more about how the main character slowly goes over the edge mentally from his guilt. It is more like his novel Dolores Claiborn, wherein there are really no supernatural elements in the story, except for the main character's fixation on rats, which appear to be more a part of his mental breakdown following his real world experience with them.

Both the King novella and the movie based on it go from bad to worse to even worse. Though the main characters' circumstances were very different, King's "1922" has always made me think of H.P. Lovecraft's "The Rats in the Walls" which WAS more overtly supernatural.
