Laurel Or Yanny?

They were talking about this on the radio. It sounds like LAUREL to me.

On NBC this morning it sounded like Yanny, then later in the day on the car radio it sounded like Laurel.

Apparently both are being played in the sound track, and it depends if you have young ears (Yanni) or older ears (Lorel) which means your brains hears better one and parses only the one that is clearest. You can make both group ear the same thing by changing the pitch/speed it is played at. See here:

I understand that young people can hear a higher range of sound than older people. Some stores will play a high noise to annoy and keep young people away.

Before this I don't think that I was aware of Yanni. I'm not a music person.

In case you can't make it through the obnoxious guy's explanation above, they talked about the phenomenon (ambiguity illusion) on PBS last night (May 16th). Judy Woodruff is so much more palatable.
