In reviews it is often said that a person's drinking or smoking habit is tolerent. The spelling of the word is tolerant. There is no such word as tolerent.

There was a thread a while back where we discussed the nuances on the words 'their' vs. 'there' and 'discreet' vs. 'discrete.'

My pet peeve is the misuse of 'its' vs. 'it's.'

Good spelling and grammar are important, but I should point out that when you fill out a review form here the choices on the drop-down menu for both smoking and drinking read 'tolerent.'

Hey Greg, that is a good one. I also cringe at their vs. they're and even more so at then vs. than... It is like fingernails on a blackboard!

Floridaguy I was being sarcastic. I personaly don't give a flip if someone uses the wrong spelling or misspells something. I have met quite a few people who can't spell worth a lick but I don't think that makes them anyless intelligent then anyone else. As long as they treat others with respect and kindness I could give a flip if they can spell or not.

Hugs,

Greg

"There is no such word as tolerent."

Just for the record… ‘Microsoft Office Word’agrees... I typed in tolerent and got the squiggly red line and the suggested correction was indeed tolerant!

Some of you appear to enjoy flaunting your ignorance and some advocate using appropriate grammar. I think I'd rather be with those who write correctly and, hence, are proud of this. When a person writes well I am more likely to read what he has to say and think better of him.

"He is a dominate escort". Urgh. The review form makes the same mistake.
