I guess I am another one who has been quite happy with the Message Center lately. Would I like to see more topics? Sure. But I'd rather see fewer topics and less bickering than the way it was before.

 

But, that said, I think, Doug, that you have forgotten what the original (and I think the present) purpose of this site was/is... a place where potential clients can get information to make more informed decisions when thinking of hiring escorts. With that in mind, the REVIEW section is the primary area of the site, not the Message Center. Reviews are still very plentiful and very informative. Therefore, I don’t see how one could say the site has lost its focus or its value to the members. The Message Center is just an ancillary way for members to discuss varying topics and perhaps add to their knowledge base of the escorts through escort participation and member discussion of the escorts. Both the Deli and the Escort Travel sections of the Message Center are clearly designed for this purpose. As for the Lounge, nearly all of the topics have little to do with the purpose of the site. They are just icing on the cake. They can promote community among the members, educate, make us laugh/cry, fulfill/create a fantasy with pictures and/or descriptions, and a whole host of other things. If this section went away, I’d miss it, but it would not diminish the value of the site in the slightest.

 

As a member, I’d love to see more participation from the escorts. I’d also like to see more discussion of the escorts by members. These discussions can be an added benefit to the prospective client as we learn more about the personalities of the escorts. Thank you Rick, Juan, Jesse, BN, Scott, Vincent, Steven, Anton, Tom, Chris and all the other participating escorts for your contributions (no slight intended for those not specifically mentioned). There is no need for attacks, insults or mean spirited comments to discuss an escort. Most of the attacks and negative and derogatory comments have come from individuals who have neither met the escort nor had any first hand information on them. Conjecture and innuendo are really not helpful for prospective clients and should have no place in these discussions.

 

So, Doug, you may think that the site has lost its direction, value, purpose, but I sure don’t… not by a long shot! Thanks, Daddy for continuing what HooBoy started.

May this site have "A LONG LIFE!!!!" There are many more forums here than just one, so if one doesn't want to read and write in the first one-- go to the others to seek what you're after!!!

I have only recently posted and reviewed this site--the last year or so. But I do agree with axiom and others that the site has great value in terms of finding escorts. I certainly do not wish it to die. There really is nothing comparable, although MER is off to a good but fledgingly start. The discussion of this very thread on MER is much more open and illuminating to me than the thread here. But this message center, other than whatever entertainment value it may have, is quite unimportant to me. I come here for a different reason, as I suspect most other people, to see the reviews and the fresh talent that may be out there. I come here because I need someone to "tell me what I don't know already." I rarely get that in the message center, but I do get it frequently in the review section. And for that, I'm very greatful and continue to return each day.

I hold pretty much the same opinion as you do about this site and MER for that matter. As a long time user of the reviews here there really is no other source out there that compares. I lurked around the MC for a long time before finally starting to post. I watched many a meltdown and even remember the days of Truth Teller which had to be perhaps a nadair of unparalled porportions.

 

It is unfortunate that recent occurrences over the past year resulted in events that led to banning of certain posters and departures by others dissatisfied with how things are being run around here since HB's passing. As I posted over at MER, its been my expereince with boards like these that over time they take on different atmospheres and personalities. These change over time as new posters join and others depart. Periods of calm interruped by rancor or serious disagreemtns and back to periods of calm.

 

When I read the OP about the condition of this site I took that to mean that Doug has not gotten the type of site he wished for. Well....that's just tough luck. The management here and the users have indicated the type of environment they feel comfortable with and this is what the site reflects at this time.

 

There are tons of sites out on the internet as we all know. Pretty much any environment one wants can be found someplace. MER is an attempt to fill a niche that the owners of that site feel are missing in the current crop of similar sites. Escortspeak is another attempt to do the same.

 

The very fact that a main topic of discussion on these other sites is the condition of THIS site is an indication of the impact and influence THIS site continues to hold. If such were otherwise the postings on those sites about goings on over here would be few and far between. The hand wringing about being banned over here and the attempts to log in under assumed names would not be topics of discussion.

 

When postings about this site cease to appear on the other sites then it will be a strong inidcation in my mind that this site is dying. Such an occurrence would mean that these other sites have reached a crtical mass that can sustain themselves and have a community of users with sufficient interest that there's no need to care what happens here or elsewhere for that matter. (Postings about celebrity birthdays will become the norm. LOL)

I feel that MER has potential and thus far like what I see over there. They are still in the embryonic stages and are finding their way as a resource and a community of users. My post to Totally Oz expressed the sentiment that the jury was still out for me on some aspects of the site.

 

The reason the jury is still out for me is that as a young site they have yet to experience the rancor and divisions that occurred over here in the past years. But like any message center I am sure that one of these days there is going to be an issue or event that creates some rancor and heated discussion. How the management of that site chooses to deal with the matter at the time will be an indication of what to expect in the future. (BTW, I think its beneficial that Barry moderates for both sites.)

This summs up my sentiments very well. I use this site as a resource to make decisions on which escorts to consider hiring. However, the loss of older reivews beyond 2003/2004 has seriously detracted from the value of the site in some ways for me. I have indicated my dissatisfaction with this directly to site management and have posted such here in this forum in the past. Like others I have received the canned response and its clear that's the way its going to be so rather than fume about it one has to just deal.

 

Still, even with the loss of the older reviews, there is no other site anywhere that I have been able to find that has the number reviews and depth of information.

 

The message center is a diversion for me from the day to day bs I deal with in my job. If I want rancor, intrigue, and wild spectulation all I need to do is go down to the second floor of my office and vist the CEO's area and I have my fill of such. In coversations with escorts I have hired and fellow clients the general sentiment has been that some people take this stuff way to seriously. All this is supposed to be about fun, having a good time, and hot sex.

There is no perfect scenario for all. The primary purpose of this site was the reviews, I have really yet to see a site that comes close to this level. Even though we would like a 6th day of reviews, life could be worse. I believe this does try to be fair to both sides when it comes to reviews, good and bad.

 

Issues that degraded the system last summer were two in nature, the singular focus on one escort and his connection to the powers that be and disagreements between moderators and on-line personalities. Most of the disagreements I do not miss. I miss hearing some of the discourse because some of it was quite funny and insightful. But really it did get quite inconsequential that every subject matter for several weeks somehow managed to be the fault of BN.

 

That said I noted a spark of life when Jesus entered the fray. I do not think many were left unscathed but some of the stuff was so out there, to be taken seriously was not his goa. Nothing wrong with being outrageous once in awhile.

 

One of the best things I do like is the willingness of escorts to come on line and give their opinion so the site does not become all one sided and clients like ourselves become self-righteous. The humour from some can be really funny, I am still laughing about Rick Munroe's "Tom Delany?" response. I think we all can admit once in awhile and say "I guess I was wrong about that" the exchange that takes place will continue to grow and keep perspective. I am pretty sure I have been wrong at least once this year, I don't remember when...
