Steve is hot, hot, hot but I have serious issues with Ramsey's face. The mouth and the chin are all WRONG for film. You take away his hair and the architecture issues become magnified. I don't see his career going anywhere.

Considering the hype within certain faggy gay circles, I thought this movie was a real turkey and an insult to many people, including smart and faithful gay men. It's amazing to me that money people in Hollywood take a film like this seriously. No Ang Lee (or an intelligent brain cell) to be found anywhere here.

The nude scenes are almost as gratuitous as an Unzipped centerfold. Two thumbs down. :(

The two boys featured are just fine in my book.

Guys that are "perfect"often come with way too much baggage to be any fun.

I would love to run into something like these fellas at Numbers!

Latter days was ok-just ok.A gay film which had something the director/writer wanted to say.I fear I do not expect greatness out of gay cinema(especially from American films)but rather when the occasional very good-great film comes along it is a pleasant surprise.

Brokeback Mountain was not a great/Iconic piece of filmaking IMO-but there are other threads about that.

Great Photos....I am probably the last person I know to finally see "Latter Days" on LOGO. I have no idea how much was cut out, but I am sure they found something!

Personally I did like The Cult Follower Character more than the Waiter! Definitely Physically.... That of course might be due to the fact, he seemed to be, shall I say (minus a big discussion) Less Gay!

Of course IF there was a sequal, they hooking up, he might have turned out a real Screamer! Yes I have seen that happen in my lifetime in NYC...LOL :7

Well, for me, "perfect" in casting is different from "perfect" for fun. I thought Steve was perfectly cast but Wes was not.

I think JT hit it, Wes was too gay, too light on his feet for me. He reminded me of the stereotypical West Hollywood queen who thinks he's all that but really ISN'T. Yes, much of that was built into the character but with Wes' chin, mouth, and Fabio-hair, it was impossible for me to look at him without cringing.

Now, in real life, I'd have no problem telling Wes to "bend over and take my anaconda deep, man!" :-)

The first time I saw "Latter Days," Steve was in the audience which added to the enjoyment of the gratuitous nude scene. You are right, the movie isn't very good. (Steve wasn't around the second time I saw the

film, so the flaws in "Latter Days" were more evident.)

RockHard: When you use the phrase "an insult to ... faithful gay men" are your referring to Mormons and/or gay men of any faith? Is it an insult because the movie was lousy? What if the script had been better?

Or do you object to the subject matter on any level? I am not trying to start an argument, just asking for more information on your statement.

No need for defensive disclaimers with me, alanm. I'm smart and sensitive enough to realize when a gentleman asks a legitimate question and asks it in a gentlemanly tone. I appreciate your kindness.

"are your referring to Mormons and/or gay men of any faith?"

I was referring to gay men of any faith.

Yes, the writing in any story is crucial but with great filmmaking, it doesn't end there. There's no substitute for a great director's touch and actors who know how to play very delicate scenes. The movie "Priest" beautifully handles the difficult subjects of faith, religious dogma, and sex, which proves these kind of stories can be told with sensitivity and intelligence.

"Latter Days" pandered. And the sensitive nature of the material was handled with a sledge hammer. There simply is no way to take any of it seriously because we were left with stereotype on one hand and B-Movie porn on the other. The end result? Pathetic.

I love discussing God, sex, the Church, and homosexuality. But, with all due respect to Daddy, this isn't the venue.

Hope this answers your question.

OK, so it's an imperfect independent film making some points with too heavy a hand, but I thought the male leads were pretty good and both sexy boys, and the whole thing was decently entertaining.

If you want to see a classic gay independent film, take a look at Parting Glances. 1980's sensibility. Who knows whatever happened to the lead male actors in that, both quite handsome boys? Richard Ganoung and John Bolger... The main supporting role was Steve Buscemi, so young and skinny you wouldn't believe it - and he went on to real stardom.
