Hey Guys!

This is for our friends: BigGuyinPasadena, Seattle, and others (like me) who have not forgotten the art of Glorious Singing:

My dear friend (and opera aficionado), Stan from Philly, phoned me breathlessly this morning -- saying he had experienced one of the greatest opera experiences in his life yesterday:

Anna Netrebko and Rolando Villazon in "Rigoletto" at the Met.

Stan had expected Netrebko to be superb (as I had seen clips from her Salzburg "Traviata" and told him about her) -- but the revelation was Villazon! Not since Corelli has there been a tenor of such glorious voice, body, sensuality and stage presence.

And Netrebko is the REAL thing: Huge voice, beautiful of body and face -- and a superb, sexy actress.

Stan tells me that after the "Love Duet" -- there was absolute pandemonium in the audience. (the "chemistry" between the two stars was obvious -- and the singing unparallelled) He also tells me that many were waiting outside the box office -- begging for tickets (they had obvously read the reviews -- and heard the "word of mouth"). The rest of the engagement is Sold Out, I'm told.

Stan also tells me of the quartet -- in which Villazon sits on a bench with legs spread wide. The rustle of opera glasses being raised was deafening! Apparently, the Mexican tenor sported a bulge that would make many porn stars envious -- and he must've KNOWN what effect he was having! LOL

It's about time we had exciting, brilliant STARPOWER in the opera world. Any of you who may have the opportunity to see either of these exciting talents should not hesitate for a second.

There are performance of Rigoletto w/ Anna Netrebko and Rolando Villazon

in January and February with plenty of seats left. You never know about

new opera. I felt "An American Tragdy" w/ Nathan Gunn was just okay, nothing more. It will be on the Met radio station on Saturday, Dec. 24 so people can judge for themselves. There were two scene with a shirtless Nathan Gunn, seemed a little forced.
