The new Superman, Brandon Routh, seems to be causing problems for the movie's producers because of his, ummm, huge bulge! Here's an article about it from the NY Post. Hey VDN, any pictures?!?!

"Superman Returns" star Brandon Routh is supposedly giving the suits at Warner Brothers fits because of his prodigious package of masculinity. The 26-year-old beefcake's extra-large endowment is said to be so distracting through his skin-tight costume that producers may have to shrink him during post-production.

 

"It's a major issue for the studio," a "Superman Returns" production source fretted to the London Sun. "Brandon is extremely well-endowed and they don't want it up on the big screen. We may be forced to erase his package with digital effects."

 

Routh's overstuffed basket must be steaming up the camera lens of openly gay, boy-crazy director Bryan Singer. The horny helmer — who reportedly pushed for Routh over the studio's choice, Jim Caviezel — has a history of frisky behavior with hunky young actors.

 

Singer cast unknown hunk Alex Burton as Pyro in "X-Men" after the pair had a hot tub session at a Hollywood party, reports radarmagazine.com. Burton has not appeared in a single movie since "X-Men."

 

Following the filming of Singer's "Apt Pupil" several years ago, a number of young male extras on the movie filed lawsuits claiming they had been bullied into stripping naked for a shower scene, and that Singer had held private screenings of the soapy footage at his home.

 

None of the lawsuits ever went anywhere.

 

Reps for Singer and Warner Bros. declined comment yesterday, but Simon Halls, a publicist for Routh (rhymes with "mouth"), told PAGE SIX the "super package" rumor is "completely without merit" — before adding mischievously, "I suspect that everyone at Warner Bros. is happy with everything Brandon Routh brings to the role."

 

Halls also said Singer has been "totally professional" with Routh, who has a longtime girlfriend.

 

"Bryan Singer is one of the best directors out there," Halls said. "People are just creating all kinds of crazy items about a movie that is going to be a huge, huge movie next summer." Huge indeed!

Christopher Reeve was definetely packing in Superman 2. I love that scene in the Fortress of Solitude when he and Lois have dinner. He looked so beautiful in those scenes.

That was just plain wrong. Chris Reeve was a great guy and this joke was totally tasteless.

Once the skin-tight Superman suit was designed—mapped by computer to match Routh's physique—the actor couldn't gain or lose a pound until shooting was over. There was lots of early Internet buzz about the suit's being too dark, or the "S" 's being too small, but the biggest issue for the studio, according to costume designer Louise Mingenbach, was about Superman's trunks. Or, more specifically, what's in them. "There was more discussion about Superman's 'package' than anything else on the suit," she says, laughing. "Was it too big? Was it not big enough? Was it too pointy? Too round? It was somebody's job for about a month just working on codpiece shapes. It was crazy." And the final verdict? "Not big," she says, and laughs again. "Ten-year-olds will be seeing this movie."

 

From the pics I've seen, he's pretty hot.

Christopher Reeve became quite an activist after his accident while also continuing his work as an actor, husband and father. He lived his final years to their fullest and by doing so proved once and for all that he was a super man.

Get over yourselves - Chris Reeves was a mediocre actor at best - B- movies other than Superman. While he was an activist and a good father - toward the past couple of years he was an embarassment and hard to even listen to or look at - he would have been better served living in final years with quiet dignity out of the spotlight/

That basket doesn't look very substantial... I love when a man with a nice bulge puts his hands on my head and shoves me down between his legs... But this Superman won't be creating any new fantasies for me. =(
