To go in a light hearted direction, has anyone watched a film by Allan Brocka titled " Eating Out " which has some gay themes. The main stars of the film are Ryan Carnes ( Desperate Housewives ), Scott Lunsford and Jim Verraros.

I'd be curious to know if anyone else has watched this DVD and please feel free to say what you want.

This was pretty well reviewed on here a year ago when it made the rounds of the various GLTB film festivals. Great, funny movie. Have shown it several times with friends and they all loved it, both gay and straight.

There was certainly eye-candy: the two leads are awesome looking. But, the movie itself was horrible: poorly acted, poorly written and poorly shot.

Mysterious Skin, now, that's a great movie. Not a fun, funny movie, but a must-see.

Poorly shot, yes, but only because of the extremely low budget. It's a good movie.

Mysterious a different, much higher, level of good. They can't really be compared. See them both, then go to the movies and see Kiss Kiss Bang Bang staring Robert Downie Jr. and gay-playing Val Kilmer-funny, violent, film.

Poorly poor

I have to disagree with Rod for once on a cultural item. Yes, Eating Out had its charms but change the leads to two lesbians and make the other appropriate settings and most of you would be bored by this film. The writing and the acting is on par with a WB/UPN comedy: not very high. It is horrible? No. Can you find it entertaining? Sure.

It is something to rent for a few dollars, no more, no less. I can think of ten movies that came out last year I would recommend first, before this one.
