I ordered Madonna's new album weeks ago, but what I'm really excited about and eager to receive is the new 6-CD Captain and Tennille box set, "Songs of Joy." I love happy music. :)

Dolly's new bluegrass-covers-of-pop-songs collection is fuckin' great, too. She's still got it (even if she does look freaky).

Cute. Catchy. But nothing out of this world.

Kylie Minogue has been turning this kind of stuff out now for years. But when Madonna does it everyone goes apeshit.

I would have to disagree. But we all have different taste.

Rick, I love your eclectic taste in music. I love all genres of music and many, many different artists.

I too, like the Captain and Tennille, especially "Muskrat Love" and imo, one of the best love songs ever, "Do It to Me One More Time". In my opinion C&T are second only to the Carpenters (does liking the Carpenters mean I'm gay?), in that genre of "feeling good, in the mood" music.

As far as Madonna, I just love her videos, as I have always felt that she is the queen of that genre, and I loved her live show, but with Madonna, the visuals are a lot of the attraction. As such, I have never and will never buy a cd of hers, as to me, she is not the type of artist that I would just sit and listen to.

I too love the new Dolly Parton cd, but then again I fell in love with Dolly's singing voice and songwriting way back in junior high school, when she made her debut on the old Porter Wagoner tv show.

(Please no snide remarks, as I know that was before you were born! :)).

I just love her unique "country" spin on some very old songs, while still honoring the songwriter and/or original recording artist that made the songs she covers into top ten hits, by singing duets with them: Mary Hopkins on the title song, her one and only hit song as a singer, Kris Kristofferson on "Me and Bobby McGee", but even with Dolly's version no one has owned that song like Janis Joplin, and the very best song on the whole cd "Crimson and Clover" with Tommy James! Her cover of "If I Were A Carpenter", one of my all time favorite songs, is great and compares to the best covers by some of the greatest singers in pop music history.

The only song cover that was disappointing, but just minimally so, was the cover of "Both Sides Now", with Judy Collins, as imo, it was too fast paced. It would have been much better if she had sung a duet with the author of the song and fantastic singing artist Joni Mitchell. That would have made this cd the height of perfection!

JT don't be bitter it isn't cute. I've had the cd for a bit now and I am loving it more and more everyday. If I continue to play it at work my employees are probably going to start plotting my death. But I don't care I love Madonna. She has always pushed the envelope and been ahead of the times. Madonna will always be the Queen of pop. The others are just her subjects.

Hugs,

Greg

Nice to know there are some Kylie supporters on the MC :)

While 'Body Language' might not have been her strongest album to date, i think that 'Fever' could take on ANY album of Madonna's and beat the red string off of it.

IMO, Kylie's better vocally. She's also got a look that is much more feminine than Madonna while still maintaining extreme sex-appeal.

That all being said, i'm sure Madge will do very well with this new CD. It's nice to see her back to her dancefloor roots.

Warmest,

I just wish Madonna would stop writing songs about her contempt for her fame. She has a billion dollars! If she's really so unhappy, she should quit working and buy an island.

My current faves are the newest cds from Fiona Apple and Kate Bush. I love kooky dames.
