My late husband used to complain about my loud snoring; he said it sometimes sounded like I was gasping for air. I was checked by a sleep specialist and it was determined I do not have sleep apnea or any other sleep disorder. Over the Christmas holiday I shared a motel room for 3 nights with my brother. He's a light sleeper and also complained.

Have any of you had a problem with loud snoring when spending an overnight with a companion? One of the reasons I am hesitant about hiring anyone for an overnight is that I don't want to subject them to my snoring.

I've traveled with platonic companions several times. One, with whom I'd traveled multiple times, complained on one trip.... I'd never snored on other trips, but did that trip.

I've hired a guy who snored. It kept me awake. That guy was also a furnace - he generated heat, and kept throwing off the covers. He was fun and friendly about it. But I admit, as a lifelong single person, I sleep fitfully whenever there is someone in my bed anyway.

I've gone back to my hotel with a guy from a NYC bar who snored so badly, it was incredibly annoying, and I was poking him all night long... I actually considered waking him and throwing him out.

I wouldn't let the issue prevent me from hiring. If you have a concern, make light of it as you go to bed.... just tell him "if I snore, just poke me, or roll me over." Most people stop snoring if they change position.

I think I somet8mes snore, but I don’t do overnights often enough to have heard this from a companion.

This is very thoughtful of you, but maybe it can be a warning before he agrees? You are after all paying for his time.

Maybe if you tire him enough through too much sex, he will fall asleep before you and not hear it :-)

I’ve recently begun hiring a guy that I’d very much like to travel with but my embarrassment over my loud snoring is a barrier. My solution is that when I do plan the trip, I’ll get us separate, but adjoining, rooms for the sleeping portion. It also gives him some personal space should he need it.

His reply when I brought it up was “well, you never know, we could end up falling asleep just cuddling on the couch” which just reinforced that I’ve picked the right one to travel with.

While spending an overnight with my favorite escort my snoring was so bad he kicked me out of bed and I slept on the sofa. Not so bad, actually, as I frequently did and do sleep on the sofa when alone. I don't snore anymore, though. Got rid of 90 pounds and any complaints about being a noisy bedmate!

I don't snore, but I do talk in my sleep. I also wake myself up laughing. I've even sat upright and had conversations with my eyes open with people that I didn't remember the next day. When I was a young lad, I shared a room with my younger brother, who is 18 months younger than I. We apparently used to back and forth to each other in our sleep. I'm an active sleeper - it's not unusual for pillows and blankets to be all over the place when I sleep in the bed.

I used to snore so loud, I've been kicked out 0f bed by bedmates, and sometimes people in other rooms heard it. The first thing I heard in the morning from those in other rooms is "man, you snore".

I now have a cpap. Since getting it, only my brother has slept in my house, but he didn't complain.

I had a deviated septum and I was told I snored terribly! Last year it has been corrected, and I believe I snore slightly in certain sleeping positions.

To answer your second question, a client snoring has not bothered me. I'm a very deep sleeper and haven't had any problems. Two separate clients have had cpap machines and oddly enough I found the noises to be soothing. I thought if it like a white noise machine.

If I am tired I sleep, I really don't care what's going on around me :p Such trivial thing would never bother me... Especially after I have already put you to bed nicely :p

A professional escort would have given you the bed and slept on the couch himself.

I often travel with my sister. We are both in our 60s and snore. We have always been very close and get along beautifully when we travel but the deal is that we get separate hotel rooms so we don't bother each other. It's a little more expensive but it's the perfect solution. She hates television and I'm a news junkie so we don't have to argue about that. She spends hours in the bathroom and I'm a quick shower and out kind of person, so it's nice to have separate quarters for that. I'm a neat freak and she is very messy, so there's another reason to lodge alone. Her long marriage broke up a few years ago due in large part to her husband's worsening snoring. As he got older and his various ailments became more serious, his snoring increased to the point that they moved into separate bedrooms and they eventually divorced. My ex was a silent, motionless sleeper. I often moved to the couch or our second bedroom after lovemaking so I wouldn't disturb him with my snoring. He sometimes got up in the middle of the night to ask me to come back to bed with him, which I found really endearing. But I was always a little embarrassed by the noises I made in my sleep. After he walked out on me (not because of snoring), I hated sleeping alone but I've grown so used to it over the years that I think it would take me a long time to adjust to having someone next to me again. Of course, at my age, I doubt there's any risk of that occurring!

I don't snore but I supposedly have sleep apnea. My Epworth sleepiness score http://yoursleep.aasmnet.org/pdf/Epworth.pdf is 2, but apparently I have central apnea.

I tried a sleep apnea machine twice. Both times, it was off within the first hour (after I was asleep).

My sister told me that, as a kid, I used to talk in my sleep. She was afraid to come downstairs to use the bathroom, as I'd be chattering away. She once had a dream that I was dead and in my coffin, and still talking.
