Actually, the only measure that exists in any serious sociology papers on the subject is self-identification.

If you identify as gay, you are gay, if you identify as straight you are straight.

Any attempt to use other measures (like number of people of the same sex you fucked) falls under heavy criticism, as there are in reality as many categories as there are human being, and there are gay virgins etc. So the only solution that is both practical and ethical, is to use self-identification.

What I mean is a guy who is sexually attracted to women. Heterosexual. For example people say that Alain deberry on Philadelphia is straight and he's apparently married to a woman. So I'm essentially looking for a gay for pay escort or masseur. Not sure how Colman that is here. Thanks!

Well it's possible he's in an S/M relationship with a dominatrix who is making him do it. But I agree it's unlikely.

 

But I do think there are bi guys who are 90+% one way or the other, and I don't think it's really worth quibbling about it if they "round up" to straight or gay. So if, say, he does this once a year and is otherwise only involved with/pursuing women I think he's straight enough for horseshoes.

Some people, both men and women like variety in the menu. They can be classified one way for the majority of their encounters but once in a while they may stray to the other side. Maybe not even enough to be considered as bi-sexual. I'll note that sometimes they could be strayed as a result of drugs or drinking; the point being in an altered state of mind the person will act in a way they would not otherwise do.
